THE ONLY THING THAT I KNOW NEEDS REPAIR IS THE TAPE LOADING MECHANISM. SEE MY DISCUSSION OF THIS REQUIRED REPAIR LATER INTO MY HISTORY OF MY SONY 6400. I JUST FOUND THE TWO WIRES CABLE CONNECTOR. THERE IS A BLACK AND A YELLOW PLUG COLOR. JUST ADDED A PICTURE. I AM STILL LOOKING TO SEE IF I HAVE THE SONY 6400 OPERATING MANUAL. WILL POST IT IN PICTURE #12, IF I DO HAVE IT FILED AWAY? I was a practicing Optometrist in 1983. White-Haines Optical had a promotion for a SONY VCR. If I purchased over 60 glasses frames, I would also get a SONY VCR, at no additional charge. Obviously, I couldn’t pass up the offer. We used this VCR only in our home. We were able to borrow a bulky SONY CAMERA with permanent cord attached to the SONY PLAYER, from the school where my mom was a teacher. We used this VCR for a few years until the SONY HANDICAM became available. SO MUCH MORE CONVENIENT. So….this SONY 6400 was retired inside my stereo cabinet. During the years of use, it was actually used very little. Fast forward to 2020. We are digitizing all of our 8 mm SILENT MOVIES, BETA, VHS, and SONY CASSETTES. We needed to use the SONY 6400. At that moment, I discovered that a BETA TAPE, could not be loaded into the SONY 6400. My search on YOUTUBE found that a small plastic/vinyl part on the back right side of the TAPE LOADING MECHANISM, most likely had cracked apart. A less than the best engineering design, that was doomed to failure, sooner or later. The YOUTUBE showed the repair could even be done by me, also adding some strength to the part, but family matters did not allow me to give it a try! I bought a BETA on eBay. Used it for digitizing. Then sold it on eBay. So now, I want to pass this SONY 6400 on to a REPAIR SPECIALIST, for the best repair. The pictures show that this SONY 6400, has an almost perfect case. The top right side has a few 1/8 inch wide SCUFF MARKS, that did not go away with a wet towel wiping. The SONY 6400 REMOTE, has NEVER been unwound. The Original Tie Strip is on the cord. It has never been serviced. I don’t know how the electrical holds up over the years since 1983. Other than turning it on in 2020, for about 15 minutes, I have NOT TESTED anything else since then. There are 5 BETA TAPES that have been sitting with the unit. These are NOT the digitized tapes, as I think it best to keep them awhile longer. My boys had some parts of movies on one tape. The others may have some recordings that were not labeled? Or, some my never have been recorded on? I may have an OWNER’S MANUAL? I can think of one place it might be? If I find it, I will show it in PICTURE #12. The LISTED SHIPPING WEIGHT allows for the sturdy carton I have on hand, and plastic bag, and white foam sheets around the SONY 6400. I estimated 4 pounds of shipping material over THE ACTUAL WEIGHT of the SONY 6400 and 6 TAPES. I will select USPS PRIORITY MAIL, or PARCEL SELECT, or GROUND, whichever is the cheapest, unless THE BUYER requests a specific USPS SERVICE. I am a good packer. I like to do it. I was a packer of dishes and glassware for a moving company during college for three summers. This SONY 6400 played an important part in saving family memories. Even though it was not used for many years, it has been cared for in my stereo cabinet, waiting for a time in the future that I would need to use it again!!! And along came digitizing!!! Those days are now over for sure. Time to pass the SONY 6400 ON TO A NEW GOOD HOME! Please contact me to answer any questions that I may not have covered in my HISTORY OF MY SONY 6400. Roger
