This is an vintage 1970s Akai 1730-SS Reel To Reel Tape player that has its own amplification, so it is a stand alone piece. It has a few issues. 1. The removable cover where the tape heads are is missing. 2. The foam padding on the large pinch roller is shedding and needs replacing. 3. After 15 to 20 minutes of play time, the player stops playing tape. Despite the play feature not working, you can still rewind and fast forward tape when this occurs, so it is not motor or belt issues. Something is heating up aside from aforementioned components. Im not that adept at what the cause of this malfunction is, but as you can see by video it is a sweet little unit that needs some professional attention.
