Akai CS-705D stereo Cassette Deck Serviced Has new belts. Tape recorder.. See pictures for the exact cosmetic condition of the cassette deck. Has been serviced and all the belts have been replaced. Performs really well, w&F is around +-0.25% (cassette recorded with +-0.07% w&f). Recording has also been tested and sounds great.

First produced around 1974 - 75, it must have been one of the first decks to have auto-reverse tape playback. Two heads, mechanical 3 digit tape counter, Dolby, manual tape type selection and capable of handling normal and chrome tapes, it boasts an impressive specification for its time. With its original box, some paperwork and some fuses. Its unlikely youll ever find such a complete package. Now the condition. Being sold as spares or repairs with the following observations:Powers up fine, mechanical VU meters move, a panel of lights indicating mode etc all work too.However, there are some playback and wind/rewind problems which might be related to new belts being required - it can do with a service or repair as its been in storage for a long time. The tape counter also doesnt move when playing a tape, again, possibly a belt issue. Also, some veneer is missing from the right hand side of the front fascia. It will play music however, but is stops after a few seconds, and the output is weak on one side (head clean perhaps?) Further Details:Typical of this deck is the 70s top loading layout with the cassette compartiment located on the left side of the deck. Tape eject is operated mechanically and the cassette needs to be placed with the side to be played facing forward in the cassette well.Level meters used on the GXC-75D are analogue needle VU reading meters. Mechanical transport controls for reliable GXC-75D transport function selection. The Dolby-B system reduces tape hiss on tapes recorded on the GXC-75D by as much as 10 dB at the highest frequencies. Reparaturversuche gelingen manchmal kurzfristig, aber nach einiger Zeit kommen die Probleme damit wieder.Die Fa. Bosch-Trading hat dafür eine geniale Lösung in Form des Relais-Ersatzes geschaffen (hier bei ebay erhältlich) und diesen Austausch kann ich jedem Besitzer der GX-635 sehr empfehlen. Up for auction is an Akai GX-95 3 head stereo cassette deck. The deck is serviced and the following repairs have been done: - Cleaned the heads and pinch rollers.- Replaced the idler tire, adjusted the speed, W&F 0.022% to 0.028% (this deck has direct drive capstan motor). - Adjusted the playback/record heads for correct azimuth.- Upgraded the playback eq op-amp using the OPA2134 op-amp, installed in gold plated socket.- Upgraded the record amplifier op-amp using the LM49720 op-amp, installed in gold plated socket. - Adjusted the electronics for correct levels. All the functions are operating as they should be, playback, record, ff, rew, pause, counter, counter memory, music search, record calibration, headphones, dolby B/C/HX PRO, MPX, timer. The performance is excellent, the sound is warm, the bass is deep, the mid/highs crystal clear with wide stereo image in both modes (play/record). The deck is in very good condition, considering the age (see the pictures). This is a 220V model, S/N 50845-68717. With the deck are included the old parts and a step up transformer from 120V to 220V. All the questions are very welcome. I moved recently in US from Greece, where I was working in Greek Nakamichi service during 90s and I have all the professional equipment (original test tapes, oscilloscope, wow & flutter meter, distortion meter, frequency response meter, CR-7 test unit, 1000ZXL test unit).
