I am the first and only owner of this wonderful piece of equipment from theearly period of high-end audio - California Audio Labs Delta CD Transport. Ipurchased this transport around 1996 and while I made a number of substantialupgrades to my system over the years, I saw no reason to upgrade from the CALDelta. In review after review, this transport held its own compared with a numberof considerably more expensive and well-considered transports. To get anappreciably better transport would cost significantly more. This particularpiece has always worked perfectly over the years, although in the past 10 yearsit has been only lightly used, as all of my CD’s have been ripped and stored onhard-drive. I had it cleaned and serviced about 12 years ago, just toensure its good performance. When not in use, it is always kept covered. The Delta Transport is just that – a transport. It has Optical, Coax,single ended Coaxial and AES/EBU XLR-type digital outputs only. While itwas originally introduced along with CALs Alpha and Sigma DACs it can pairedwith any DAC of your choosing. My first D/A converter was theParasound D/AC-1000,which I still own, and since 2010, my Delta Transporthas been paired with a Classe Audio DAC-1. The Delta certainly improvedthe depth and stage of the Parasound, and more than held its own with theClasse. This piece is well designed and well built. It is worksperfectly as intended. The drawer operates smoothly, and the blue digitaldisplay has only slightly diminished over time. The silver paint hassomewhat worn from two of the touch buttons (all of which work perfectly - seepics), but the remote, which will be your primary source of operation, inexcellent working condition. Considering its age, I would describe the piece to be in very good conditioninternally and externally. You’ll see normal wear, but overall, it looks great,plays perfectly and there are no tracking issues. The CAL Delta Transport has been around for years, and it still avalued piece of gear by audio enthusiasts. That speaks to its quality andperformance. I have all original packaging, and AC power cord, and theunit will be carefully and safely packed for shipping. If you are inSouthern California, in-person pick-up can be arranged.
