Bose Wave 3-CD Changer FOR PARTS OR REPAIR ONLY. I will carefully describe my observations of the current operating condition of the item. However, I am not any kind of small electronics repair or servicing expert, so please take that into account when deciding whether to purchase this unit FOR PARTS OR REPAIR ONLY. This changer unit powers up fine. The LED indicators beside each of the trays flash yellow, and a connected head unit properly displays the time of day with the boot-up “PLEASE WAIT” message. You can hear the changer attempting to perform its routine boot-up sequence, i.e. read through the three slots and eject/purge. The gears/flywheels attempt to purge the slots, but nothing comes out. This process repeats a pre-determined number of times before giving up. When I shine a light into the load slots, it is observed that in slots 2 and 4 (Top and Bottom slots), there appears to be a broken or misaligned piece of hardware that governs receipt of a new disc. These slots will not take insertion of a CD. However, the middle slot (slot 3) will allow a CD to be inserted. When inserted, the LED indicator beside Slot 3 turns green, as expected. However, the head unit never advances beyond the “Please Wait” initial state message. The CD in Slot 3 will not play, nor will it eject. It is my guess that it is a hardware issue with the mechanism that governs insertion/ejection, primarily with slots 2 and 4. I cannot stress enough that I am no expert on the servicing or repair of these units. I am simply describing what I observed when attempting to test the unit with a known, working Wave Music System head unit. Please ask any questions you may have. This Bose system was donated to Matthew Help in Matthews NC- they assist local residents in their times of financial crisis. The system actually works and has great sound until you are listening to an entire CD and it decides to stop on its own- so there is the repair.
