This is a vintage Dynaco MK III Output Transformer with model number A430-500. This is for a Dynaco MK III amplifier but has an added 500 ohm output tap. The ground, 4, 8, and 16 ohm taps are all there so it can be used as a usual MK 3 output transformer. The transformer has been used previously but is in good working condition. This listing is for a rare find. It is a Melos Modified Dynaco Stereo 70. Melos went on to start his own hi-fi company. His TM- 90ST uses 6550a tubes and a compactron front end. The Dynaco was likely his inspiration for that design. The amp has extensive modifications. El34 tubes have been replaced with 6550 tubes. The front end has been replaced with Compactron 6u10 tubes. A solid state rectifier was added. The power supply has been beefed up to support the new tubes. High-quality RCA inputs were added to the front. The rear sports a new power cord and a set of modern binding posts. Currently, the 4 ohm and 8 ohm taps are wired. The 16 ohm tap is capped with wire nuts. The transformer housings and case bottom were painted blue. Machined aluminum feet were added as well. The iron is original Dynaco. The tubes are a matched quad of Sovetek 6550WE. One tube is missing the center locating post. Though it is not hard to orient the tube properly. Tubes have lots of life left. The sound is very clean and detailed. The amplifier doesnt color the sound as much as some other tube amps can. You are more than welcome to demo the amplifier in person if youre near Buffalo, NY.
