Part of what makes an out board DAC worth its salt is how it is implemented and how flexible it is for your particular needs.The XDA-1 offers a balanced 24 bit/192kHz DAC/ pre amp designed around the AD 1955 chip set. The balanced line stage amp is combined with a differential output that is controlled by a digital volume that moves in increments of .5 steps (0-80). It has no less than six digital source inputs (1 AES/EBU, 2 coaxial, 2 optical and 1 USB: A/ B type). Where a 16 bit DAC has a S/N ratio of around 96dB (A-weighted), The XDA-1 comes in at 105dB. All standard resolutions are supported up to 192 kHz. For the outputs, you have fully discrete differential output stages with 2 independent balanced XLR and 2 unbalanced RCA (single ended) stages. The face plate is milled aluminum with a large, easy to read (and dimmable) VFD screen that displays the volume. Though the display can be dimmed, it can not be turned off completely. To the left of the screen is the volume and mute button. The ON/OFF (stand-by) button is black and not silver like the others. I almost did not realize it was there until I noticed it after I had fully set it up with my system. On the right of the display are a row of buttons that let you select the input. A small blue light identifies which selected input is engaged.

Here is an EMOTIVA XDR-1 DAC processor. This unit is in good physical condition showing a few scratches on the top (see pics). The unit powers on, was tested, and its working fine! I bought this brand new, and it has often been the center of my main two channel system. Its an awesome DAC/preamp with really clean sound, a ton of digital inputs, and the highest quality remote Ive ever had for any piece of equipment. As much as Ive enjoyed it and its features, I no longer need it, and it is time for someone else to enjoy it. Will ship in original double box, with packaging and cloth covering. Will come with the heavy-duty original remote and a power cord that works, but probably isnt the one it shipped with. I misplaced the manual, but it is available online. Also to note, I had it serviced at the Emotiva factory in 2017 to replace some bad 5 volt power supply caps under warranty. After that, it was, and continues to be as good as new. It has been well cared for, and is in almost perfect cosmetic condition. Additionally, it has the rack mount ears, in case you want to put it in a 19 inch rack.
