This transformer comes from a tape machine setup. Theres a dent on the case, but it works perfectly and dont pick up any noise. It is PERFECT for MC-step-up, close to a Western Electric 618B, with just a little lower turns ratio. Originally used as a tape head to preamp input, its a recording studio quality transformer made by Jensen transformers back in the golden era of tube and discrete audio electronics. Its a really rare finding! I used to have more of these, but sold them all on Ebay, a long time ago. This is the last pair Ive kept for personal use, but Ill have to also let these go now. You wont see this very often. Seems like a custom job from Jensen. I actually never seen anything alike. I just know these are made by Jensen transformers because I collect professional audio transformers for over 25 years now, and I know this is jensen mumetal case, a Jensen part number (starts with JE) and also classic Jensen letter printing on model name and soldering pins. Just like many things were made for Sears by different manufactures to higher standers that Sears would ask for, like extra features or heavy duty options or even certain patents that belonged to Sears, but were in manufactures products that the manufacturer could not even use in there own builds. For example, Whirlpool was producing a number of Kenmore Elite series refrigerators for Sears and the features options were patented by Sears but made by Whirlpool. Some of the biggest electronic manufactures did the same like Sony, Pioneer, Sharp, RCA, Tyco-(RC-Toys) and so on. At the time the two best 6x9 ever created were by Pioneer and Jensen in-fact many would argue that these early Jensen outperformed Pioneers speakers by a long shot as Jensen invented the first coaxial speaker way back in 1942 Pioneer was stuck playing catchup. By the late 70s and early 80s Pioneer was doing a great job in copying and enhancing their speaker line. These speakers are rated 50 watts with 20oz Synox-6 ceramic magnets It is very difficult to find these speakers in this amazing condition. Due to their age they will need a reform kit, but rest assured these are NOS not like other sellers claiming NOS but they look beat and installed. This is important as worn or bad coils shorten the longevity of the speakers. Always take a look at the screw mounting holes on both sides for install marks. If the speakers are NOS there should be NO scratches, waves or dents around the screw mounting holes. One of the speaker is missing the sticker on the back. These speakers sound amazing and are extremely versatile. These are the 6x9s that used to be placed in the rear decks that actually produced bass and crisp vocal sounds and the coolest thing about these speakers is you dont need much power to push them.
