As is typical of Greaves plinths, the mitres are solid, the plinth is true and is fitted with an original top plate which is in excellent condition save for some surface marks near the motor aperture. The Linn Basik LV X arm operates perfectly and is in excellent condition with great bearings and comes with the standard arm cable and new Linn suspension. It also has the original Valhalla PSU which is in great shape. OverviewPoints of note (pictured)There are some light signs of use on the plinth top near the back left edge and on the front left edge. The arm has some light marks on the head shell from previous cartridge fittings. The plinth was heavily worn - as early black plinths tend to be - so this has been sympathetically refinished the plinth to remove the worst of the wear and tear. Nevertheless, it does show some minor signs of ageing and use.Originally fitted with a failed Valhalla, this has now been exchanged for a very nice Linn Lingo 1 power supply which is in excellent condition. This, along with the pre-Cirkus bearing provides a very musical partnership so we’ve elected to use a rarely found (particularly in this condition) Syrinx PU-2 tonearm. Claimed by many to be the better of the Linn Ittok, this cleverly engineered design allows for greater control of cartridge alignment and balance and provides a performance more akin to uni-pivot designs rather than conventional bearing tonearms.This is now set up beautifully and performs at a level that greatly belies its price point. Chris Harban (Woodsong) Wenge LP12 Plinth.Superb plinth made by this well known artisan, whose plinths are generally considered to be the best ever made for the LP12. He has since focused his production on Garrard plinths and no longer manufactures them for the LP12. Thus making his plinths rarer and even more desirable.When placed on a flat surface there is the slightest of gaps between the plinth and surface on one corner. About 4 paper thicknesses.

Excellent turntable mat suitable for virtually all record decks. Its 3mm so it wont upset the *cough* VTA of a Rega or the suspension of a Linn. Its in excellent condition, flat and unmarked. Having owned one of these mats myself I strongly recommend sticking it firmly to your platter with double sided tape. It will be shipped in a stronger record mailer than Funk use, with a stiffener. These early decks are renowned for their warm fluid sound. It is s/n 26393 – and has 22-Feb-1978 date-stamped on the inside of the plinth. Everything works. It has the original red button power supply and a spot-welded sub-chassis with a gold colored bearing body. The motor is very quiet , smooth and gives a correct and stable speed. The plinth is a “Greaves Fluted” type in the now unobtainable Afromosia wood and is in excellent condition with no obvious marks or dents. It still has the original makers s/n label on the back. It has correctly functioning sprung hinges and the transparent lid is in excellent undamaged condition. It has a rare and sought after Hadcock GH228 uni-pivot tonearm which is in excellent , complete and working condition. It’s fitted with an Ortofon VMS20E Cartridge/Stylus and even has an additional extra-heavy counterweight and an additional brand new, boxed replacement stylus. This tone-arm is original continuous wired type and is in excellent shape. Admittedly it’s very tricky to set up correctly but sounds fantastic when it’s all properly balanced and aligned. The deck has enjoyed continuous ownership from new, up to 2022. Recently I have replaced the suspension springs and grommets as the original ones were beginning to sag. I also had a new drive belt fitted as again, the original one was becoming brittle. It’s been fully thoroughly cleaned and serviced. I had considered further upgrades but decided it’s better left alone as it sounds fantastic and there aren’t many of these original specification red button decks left now as most were personalized or upgraded. This is a very delicate and sensitive deck so its listed for collection only ..... no returns accepted once it leaves my care.

NAIM AUDIO PREFIX (S) PHONO STAGE - FOR LINN SONDEK LP12 (MOVING COIL CARTRIDGES) Includes 3 fixing screws Excellent condition - see photos. Just some slight cosmetic discolouration of grey SNAIC lead - thats all. Sounds superb. This ultra high quality phono preamp screws onto the corner brace of a Linn LP12 turntable (3 screws included) and plugs straight into the base of a Linn arm - eg Ittok or Ekos. The arm plug on this example is the original metal Prefix plug, but it has been modified, so that the left and right signal channel leads can be kept completely apart. The last photo above shows this Prefix fitted to a Linn LP12, for illustrative purposes only (The LP12 is not included in this sale). The earth lead on this Prefix has been fitted with a handy phono plug (the Prefixs earth wire is connected to the earth on the phono plug) so that it can be simply plugged into any phono socket on an amp to earth the Prefix. Or, the plug could simply be cut off, if you wish to connect the Prefix to an amps dedicated phono earth. The Naim Prefix requires a separate power supply - eg a Naim Flatcap or HiCap or the internal power supply supplied by some Naim amps eg Supernait 2. The idea of the Naim Prefix is that it dramatically shortens the (loss inducing) phono signal pathway from arm to amp and removes the thick arm cable that can give set up problems on some LP12s. It is a specialist item - please only buy it if you have a low output moving coil cartridge, plus an independent power supply and understand the installation process.
