Here for sale is a McCormack DNA-1 Deluxe Edition amplifier. It was sent in to SMc Audio in October of 2003 and received the Rev B+ upgrade. Since then it has developed signs of imminent main board failure. One of the LEDs in the voltage regulation circuit no longer illuminates. We have been informed that this indicates that flaws in the original manufacturing process of the main board are beginning to show and this amplifier will eventually develop major issues that stop it from functioning properly. We set up the amp for a short term bench test to assess its current functional condition. The unit fundamentally works, producing approx. 160W per channel before clipping into 8 ohms, both channels driven. It also passed a basic audio check. In short, this amp fundamentally works. The output boards and transistors seem to be intact based on the output power testing. We are selling this amp AS IS for Parts or Repair ONLY. It is not recommended that this device be put into use before it has received the proper upgrades to the main board. SMc audio still offers board replacement services for this model. Please investigate the expected service costs for this device before bidding/buying. We are selling this unit as a NON WORKING amplifier. I have owned this for 10 plus years. It was part of my main audio setup and I enjoyed it immensely. I am downsizing and dont need multiple inputs anymore so off it goes for someone elses enjoyment. Will be well packed for shipping. For those that arent familiar with the Line Drive Deluxe it is the unit with the Penny & Giles potentiometer (volume control). The balance control is a Noble unit. Internally it also is wired with Wonder Wire & LC/OFC Teflon-insulated wire and Wonder Solder. It has WBT (made in West Germany) 0200 RCA jacks for the CD, 1 set of main outs, and Aux 2 jacks. The other RCA jacks are Tiffany. Keep in mind this is a passive unit (no AC power) so it wont provide the gain/buffering of an active unit. You may want to research this first if you are unsure it will work for your setup. I used it with a number of inputs (portable CD player, DAC, smartphone, tuner, etc.) and had the main output connected to a small T-Amp with the volume control turned all the way up (so the Mod Squad unit controlled the volume level). This worked well for me. Again though, know what you are buying, do your homework, and know its limitations. If it works for you as did for me though, it is a pleasure to use. We present to your attention a set of McCORMACK amplifiers An exceptionally high-quality and rare set from the famous American manufacturer McCORMACK, made for the European 220V market, consists of a preamplifier and a power amplifier. Like many other creations of Steve McCormack, they have repeatedly won prizes in the category “best amplifier, regardless of price.” Audioreview, in my opinion, has fairly objective assessments and characteristics. Very decent and comfortable sound. Pre active and passive McCormack TLC-1. McCORMACK Power Drive DNA-1 Power Amplifier High quality double terminals, gold plated connectors. Power 2x 150 Watts into 8 ohms, doubles 2x 300 Watts into 4 ohms, Output current: 50A peak per channel. Frequency response: -3 dB at 0.5 Hz and 250 kHz Weight 23 kg.

However, for those of you who are new to this brand what we have here is a McCormack Mod Squad Line Drive passive pre amplifier in slate grey. Furthermore, while marked made in the USA and dating back to the 1990s its built to the highest standard using some of the finest materials/components and in its day the Mod Squad Line Drive represented one of the finest value for money passive pre-amplifiers that is the ideal match for both solid state and valve amplifiers alike. Specifications include: Play and Record mode, L/R Balance and Volume controls. Several RCA inputs, Tuner, CD, AUX 1, AUX 2, Video, Tape 1+2 in/out along with 2 main outputs for 2 power amplifiers and a ground lift switch. As expected this amp features a solid built with Nobel poteniometers, isolated point to point wiring and plays with audiophile sound quality. Whether listening to jazz, classical, rock or reggae the music emerges from the speakers with dynamics, depth, width and space between instruments and when playing jazz, classical, rock or reggae it delivers a neutral articulated bass where by notes sound as though plucked and played rather than a blurred flurry. While the treble is extended which gives clarity and detail to percussion, flutes and cymbals. As for the midrange voices, strings and horns are realistic sounding with space and air between them. Moreover, when partnered with good quality components superb sonic results are achieved. As for the cosmetic condition this amplifier has been used and is in excellent condition with minor age and use related signs of handling scuffs to the chassis edge and sides which are visable although nothing serious and as such Id rate it as 9/10 overall. Operationally the amp functions and plays without flaws of any kind and has been a pleasure to listen to. Comes with upgraded aluminium feet. No Box, accessories, cables or paperwork included.
