This Open Box example of the remarkable McIntosh C45 Audio Control Center was ordered for a client who decided to go with an MX-151 with HDMI switching and Room Perfect.However, he kept it thinking he might have us install it in another room but never got around to it.It has been in its original box and packing until recently and we have thoroughly inspected it and its perfect~ The C45 was one of our best recommended 5.1 pieces going back to 2003~Even after McIntosh replaced it with the C46, we continued recommending the C45 until it was no longer available.We preferred the 5.1 output over the additional equalization of the C46 and we could never hear any sonic benefits to the C46. This example is essentially an NOS (New Old Stock) and the client simply didnt use it. There are a number of great reviews of the C45 if youre not familiar with its features and capabilities.Like all McIntosh gear, it is built to exacting standards and will provide its owner with years and years of trouble free performance. McIntosh MCT-450 Transport SACD Player This is a McIntosh CD transport. It requires an external DAC of some sort to function. It can be a stand alone DAC such as Schiit, DirectStream, McIntosh D150, Cambridge, Chord and many others. It will also work with many preamplifiers and home theater processors that have an optical or coax input. This unit does not have RCA outputs. For this unit to play SACDs it must be connected to a few select McIntosh preamplifiers or DACs that have a proprietary digital DIN input. These will also require a special cable, McIntosh part number 171923. Im selling this because I primarily listen to my old MC60s tube amps and mostly analog recordings. I would say this unit is close to perfect. The glass is like new and the chrome on the sides is flawless. The top is extremely good too. Ive looked at it in different lighting conditions and angles and nothing stands out from two feet away. This includes the MCT-450, power chord, remote and users manual. It will come shipped in the original McIntosh outer box, however, I took the box to my local pack n ship store to have more cushioning and protection added. Ive had a couple of bad experiences with McIntosh shipping cartons both on the buying and selling side. Nothing is worse than the expense of replacing a needlessly cracked glass.
