A few years back I met the son of a former employee of Dunlavy Audio Labs. His mother worked at the Colorado manufacturing site in the mid 90’s. She was allowed to take home many of the speakers that never made it into production. This is one of those. It is unfinished and rough. Very rough. The cheesy 90’s oak veneer is peeling in a few places. It does have an original hand wound Dunlavy crossover , terminal plate and the impossible to find Dunlavy labeled wire between each speaker. This is really just a conversation piece for the audiophile. It is sold as non working junk. I have no way to verify the story of where it came from.

Approximately five years old in very good physical condition with no chips, dents or scratches visible upon close inspection, whilst any fingerprints can be easily cleaned off with a microfibre cloth and distilled water. Used in a heated smokeless and largely dust free studio throughout their service, that was sanitised on a weekly basis, and wholly protected from dampness, condensation, direct sunlight, or any other corrosive catalysts. Features include dual analog inputs, both balanced and TRS coax SP diff digital in with a loop back for daisychaining. Rear mounted gain knob with a range of -22 to 10 dB and three banks of of dip switches, each featuring two functions with four settings a piece. Depending on their positions, these provide the user control over a low and high frequency shelf with respective rolloffs of up to -3 and -4.5 dB, with a lift of 1.5db for the former. Mid-EQ boost or attenuation of between +1.5 to -3db, a high pass sweep with four fixed frequencies, ranging from 40 to 100 Hz and 2 “desktop” rumble filters allowing level reductions of up-to 3 DBS at 220 & 175hz Fault description XLR and TRS balanced inputs on the right monitor receive signals intermittently depending on the reference gain configured for the connected device and volume of source material. A louder signal will initially crackle and distort before becoming fully audible after roughly 5 minutes, whilst quieter sources are not detected until after the prior process is complete. By contrast, the left speaker fails to identify any or transmit any sound from connected devices irrespective of their level. Powering the unit off and on or toggling the input switch between analogue and digital modes occasionally allows the received audio to be heard, but only for half a second Note that these symptoms are only what I have been able to reproduce through personal testing, and the results you obtain may be different and depend heavily on the equipment you’re using. Having carried out limited research, I’ve ascertained this problem may be down either to a faulty transistor or capacitor and suspect any technician with the necessary tools, time and expertise could carry out a simple repair, but again, cannot guarantee as such.
