Nakamichi MR-2 two head Professional Synchronous Operate-able Cassette Deck. Just fully serviced with attention to details. Makes deep cleaning and lubrication of all potentiometers and mechanics. Replaced all belts. Known issue with Pitch Control isolated. This deck features input/output RCA & 1/4 phone jack; copy out RCA; output level control; remote input & output 8 pin DIN. This unit has feature of synchronous operation for few MR-2s connected without modification. Item have minor used before, as you can see on heads condition. Looks like new. Rack mount and feet included. This Nakamichi MR-2 is a stereo cassette deck with Dolby B and C noise reduction, it was first sold by Nakamichi in 1986 with a manufacturer suggested retail price of USD $700 and discontinued 8 years later in 1994. The main features of the Nakamichi MR-2 are: 2 heads, mechanical 3 digit tape counter and memory stop, manual tape type selection and capable of handling normal, chrome and metal tapes, belt driven single-capstan transport. Typical front loading cassette deck with the cassette compartment located on the center of the deck. Tape eject is operated mechanically and the cassette needs to be placed with the side to be played facing forward in the cassette well. Level meters used on the MR-2 are generic digital peak reading meters. As can be seen in the pictures, the unit is very, very clean and has almost no damage or scratches. Im a former recording engineer and have now digitized the remaining cassettes that I needed to archive. I no longer need this fine unit. The MR-1 has XLR balanced connectors in/out, as well as 1/4 inch unbalanced connections. Settings for Type I, II, and IV cassette tapes, Dolby B and C. 3 heads for instant monitoring, and very low wow and flutter, excellent frequency response. It is in excellent working condition. There are some edge scratches from going in and out of the rack. Rack handles are included but detached for shipping. They can easily be screwed back on with provided screws. The owners manual includes a large fold-out schematic diagram of the circuitry. Comes with owners manual and will be packed in original Nakamichi box. This estate item is fully tested and working BUT has infamous pitch knob issue. It’s in excellent used condition. While record speed is Locked, the playback speed is out of whack due to a bad/dirty pitch control knob. There is information on the web on how to either disable or replace it.
