Sansui AU-317 II Integrated Amplifier In good condition overall but does have some minor marks and could do with a clean up. Its been sat for many years as it was part of my late fathers Hifi setup and its taken a long time to feel comfortable moving it all on. I know he got it new in the early 80s. I dont know anything really about HiFi/amplifiers, but testing it with a Dual CS506 Turntable (for sale separately), it appears all functions are working as they should but the unit isnt 100% happy. It will play a clean sound but sometimes you need to tap the volume knob to get both channels working, and sometimes it will develop a sort of static hum after varying the treble for instance, which goes away when you twiddle the knob or turn it off and again. Feels like dirty contacts or something, but as I say Im not experienced with this sort of equipment. Overall it all works, but maybe just needs disassembling and a good cleaning, I doubt its had much special attention in its 40 year life. Will be packed carefully for postage, alternatively collection is welcome from Redditch, B96 or I may deliver locally for peace of mind.

Hi I am Topman511 and I specialise in Sansui Vintage Hifi.  When I restore an amplifier I really go all the way to make sure the end result is 100% perfection.  I adore these amplifiers because they sound so good and the build quality is fantastic.  They are fantastic value for money.   As you know these amplifier are 43 years old and still sell on eBay for big bucks either as for part not working or even as fully working. I can assure you that at this age none will be working properly as there many other components not just capacitors that need to be replaced. Some do seem to work but once you compare to a fully restored unit the difference is clear.  My rule for restoration is to keep to the original as far as possible,  No transistor substitutions anywhere on the audio path but some components need to be replaced because they just go bad with age. Units are normally filthy inside and out so everything is washed and cleaned.  Covers are rubbed down then primed and painted satin black only when needed  Circuit boards are riddled with HR / Dry Joints.  I remove over 95% of all old solder connections and redo with leaded solder. I remove most components and then test and clean the legs by scaping with a blade to ensure perfect connectivity.  All Electrolytic Capacitors are replaced with quality Japanese brands such as Elna, Nichicon, TDK, Panasonic and KEMET for the main PSU filter capacitors. All capacitors are of superior quality and exceed all originals specification.   Some ceramic capacitors are replace (TDK) Nasty component glue removed (using hot air) All Pots are cleaned Certain Fuse resistors / Bias Resistors / Diodes and Trim Pots are replace, new transistor heatsink paste  A new 3 Metre power flex a black plug to top it off.  Bias set to factory Spec (13mV) and DC Offset set to OV  ABOUT THIS AU317 MK2 The MK2 is nor better or worse than the MK1 regarding sound.  The difference is an unnoticeable 10 watts increase in power but the MK1 had the Pre Amp Out / Power Amp In option and a painted black internal heatsink. They are both excellent amplifiers  This MK2 has one of the best condition face plates Ive ever seen which is a massive bonus.  The original speaker terminals were broken for some reason so I replaced with banana plug sockets which is a small improvement. Testing with Mission 753 speakers the  sound is astonishing in Flat Mode but I do like the Loudness switch, This example is as close to a brand new AU-317 you can get making it one of the best examples around.   I will be listing many more Sansui amps vey soon such as more AU- 317s MK1 /2, AU- 217MK2 AU517 and AU717 all fully restored to like new Topman511
