Harman Kardon Citation 1 Stereo Preamp Control Center Rare 1960s Vintage. This was purchased at an Estate Sale, so I dont know the complete history. What I was told is that its been in storage since the early 1980s and was working prior to storage. I can not verify its working condition, but I can tell you it powered up and as you can see in one of the photos all the tubes lit up, but beyond that I have no equipment to test if it actually works. All the switches and knobs move freely and with positive clicks on their detents. All the tube sockets are tight and hold the tubes firmly. Other observations on the condition. Cosmetically the knobs have tarnish and faceplate has a few small minor scratchs and wear around the knobs but all the lettering seems intact. The back chassis also has some tarnish and pitting, but again the lettering is intact. The power on button is missing, with a cap installed in its place. It is hardwired ON ( see wire nut in underside chassis photo) so they must have used a power strip to turn it on and off. Internally I didnt visually notice any obvious signs of damage or modification, but Im not an expert so look at the photos to make your own determination. One of the tube shield covers is missing and some of the plastic around the receptacles is chipped off. I added two stick on rubber feet, the original front two were missing, but the mounting screws are still present. Interesting point, it looks like the original owner of this was a member of a Bell Labs Club as you can make out on a deteriorated label. For shipping the tubes will be removed, bubble wrapped and boxed. Ive done my best to call out what I know / have seen, but please look at the photos closely to make your own determination. Preamp will be insured for purchase price. While the tubes initially lit up, I make no guarantee they will continue to work, or that this unit functions, so it is being sold as a non working Parts Only or Repair. No Returns. Thanks
