Classic British amplifier in very nice condition. Serviced last year and sounding great. A later model with the more useful RCA turntable inputs. I have included a couple of DIN to RCA interconnects to get you started with other sources. One of my favourite amplifiers, a clear cut above many cult budget favourites of the era. I have had this in my second system for a couple of years, but have recently gone for active speakers to save space, so it is no longer needed. Some small marks on the case, but nothing you’d notice from a few feet away. Please see pictures. Sold as collection only because I have no packaging. When I was 11 a family friend introduced me to the fascinating world of electronics. For the past 55 years I have enjoyed electronics as a hobby, particularly in conjunction with audio equipment and specifically vintage hi-fi from the 60’s to the mid 80’s. This passion includes valve equipment as well as solid state. Having retired in 2020 I was looking for a way to be able to indulge my passion for electronics and vintage hi-fi without breaking the bank. One day I managed to find on eBay a broken Bush Arena TA2700 tuner/amplifier, which I had from new in the mid 70’s so I purchased it. I spent many happy hour bringing it back to working condition and refurbishing the solid wood case. I still have it and enjoy using it often. This one I will never sell! What price nostalgia Lol! This led me to purchase a lot more vintage gear from eBay, so now I am able to enjoy buying, restoring and often reluctantly selling the items I purchase after carefully restoring them back to original specifications. My aim is to give myself a self funding hobby, not to run a business to make money. At the end of 2021 I purchased the equipment for sale described below, and after restoration, used it almost daily for over a year. It now has to go, as my passion has driven me into vintage Quad gear and I need to make some room :( This advert is for the following equipment:- A&R Cambridge A60 Stereo Amplifier serial number 17731 born 1st June 1983 and matching T21 FM Tuner, serial number 3104 born 21st June 1982. Both in teak veneered wooden enclosures. I will also include a high quality DIN lead to connect the tuner to the amplifier. The amplifier has had over £70 of high quality new components. All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with Nichicon or Rubycon parts purchased from reputable sources like RS Components, Digikey and Mouser, to avoid counterfeit parts. Resistors have been changed where they were found to be out of tolerance. All semiconductors have been tested to be within specification and replaced where needed with high quality parts, gain matched where appropriate. The tuner was checked in exactly the same way. I think it was a very low hours unit when I purchased it as it was pretty much in mint condition. Not one single component was out of tolerance, so nothing has been changed. I have been using the amplifier and tuner most days since completing the restoration early in 2022. They both work flawlessly and sound very nice, performing better than a lot of equipment that was much more expensive at the time they were new. I am selling these units reluctantly (you can see that as I have hung onto them so long!), purely so I can recover the costs of purchase and renovation to fund my ever growing collection of Quad gear. I will ship the units via tracked and insured courier to mainland U.K. addresses only. They will be very well packed, hence the cost of the shipping. Sorry, no international shipping as I don’t want the hassle. If you want to collect in person, that’s great, I can demonstrate the units before you take them away, and of course, if you do collect, the £15 shipping will be refunded at the time of collection. These are a pair of really nice units electrically and also cosmetically. The amplifier does have a scuff to the case as you can see in the photos. I didn’t bother trying to repair it as the tuner stood on top of it so it was hidden. The cases are interchangeable. I hope the new owner enjoys this equipment as much as I have. Superb A&R Cambridge A60 Vintage Integrated Amplifier, Working perfectly and in lovely condition A beautiful example of this famous amplifier - a later model, serial number 14496, completed on 28th October 1982 All the rotary controls and pushbutton switches have been treated with DeOxit so there are no crackles, glitches or dead spots at all The sound is superb, detailed & clear and the sheer grunt and control of the bass and general clarity is very impressive The wooden top-and-sides cover has a very attractive colour to it - its not a varnished or ultra-smooth finish and with the A60, you can change the look of the amp by swapping the cover around as one side has a short overhang and the other has a longer overhang I prefer the look with the shorter overhang at the front and thats how most of the photos show it but ive included 2 montage images that show it with the longer overhang at the front... its very easy to swap the case around if you wish Only one blemish, some paint on the front of the balance knob had flaked off... careful application of black marker has made a big improvement and its only noticeable on close inspection In all, an excellent vintage audiophile amp that sounds fantastic and should give plenty more years of faithful service Some Info, courtesy of Hifiengine :The A&R Cambridge (later Arcam) A60 Amplifier delivers unsurpassed sound quality and performs with legendary reliability. It is presented in a highly attractive but appealingly restrained cabinet that will continue to please for years to come. This equipment is genuinely in a class of its own. The A60 can accept any magnetic or moving coil cartridge. The cartridge may be optimally matched by the addition of a switchable loading module and, in the case of a low output moving coil cartridge, the internally fitted MC 60 pre-amplifier board. All the inputs to the A60 have high overload margins so that almost any input source can be accepted without distortion. A switchable high frequency filter is fitted to reduce the noise from scratches on old records and stereo FM noise on tuners. The bass and treble controls have been designed so that deficiencies in some small speakers and cartridges may be corrected without coloration of the mid frequency band. All input sockets have high quality silver plated contacts for minimum noise. The loudspeakers are connected via heavy duty screw terminals which can accept either bare wires or 4mm plugs. A&R Cambridge T21 Sereo FM Tuner and A60 Intergrated Amplifier. Both in wooden surrounds. Both units power up. I do not have the cable to plug the tuner to the amp.Tuner buttons not quite even - station buttons 2 & 3 sit slightly proud.Amp selection button aux not in line with the others. Between treble and bass there is a slight nick in the paintwork. Please see pictures for condition, functions and dispay.. Overal dimensions for both units are:44 x 22 x 11 - note that amp max width is approx 24cms due to grid on the back. There are instruction manuals for both units. Power is hard wired in. There are two additional cables fitted, I do not know if these are relevant but will leave them in.

A&R Cambridge A60 Amp SA60 Power Amp. T21 Tuner. A very rare combination of A60 Amplifier. That works perfectly well as a standard A60. Or, when you connect it to the SA60 becomes a pre-amp or a bi-amp or some other possibilities. Right, first up the SA60 is for spares or repair only, it doesnt work. I think it needs new capacitors and power transistors. Having said that its really rare and youll probably be the only person for miles around who has done of these British made vintage classics. A60 works as does the T21 tuner but these are decades old, so... There were are. Happy to answer any questions. Cash on collection or buyer/seller arranges postage and insurance.
