Vintage Acoustic Research AR18S HiFi Speakers - 60 W In full working order with new rubber surrounds. Can be connected with banana plugs. Some marks and scratches and the veneer is a little bit broken in some places but nothing major. - see pictures-The speaker surrounds are made of high-quality rubber, pliable and durable. The mid-range, high range and the bass are wonderful, bass is deep, tight and controlled, although very powerful. One of the best little speaker ever. Over 300 pairs of Acoustic Research Speakers restored and sold. The Acoustic Research AR-6 is designed to achieve the maximum performance available in a speaker of moderate cost. An indication of the success of the design is the unusually accurate bass response and lack of coloration of the AR-6, even when compared to systems that are more costly. The most unusual characteristic is the woofer, which has used the parameters of voice-coil size and length, magnetic circuit, diaphragm weight, and suspension to yield maximum theoretical performance. This technique permits the manufacture of a bass speaker with extended response and power-handling ability that occupies no more space than a conventional 203 mm (8 inch) speaker. Really available is this classic Acoustic Research receiver…the model X-06. Cosmetics are very good to excellent. Not mint, but presents very well. Four analog inputs. Bass, mid range, trouble controls. Loudness and mono buttons. Auto or manual tuning Speaker A or speaker B connections. Headphone input (Full size jack) Tape 1/2 and VCR (or whatever) 1/2 Sonically, she sounds amazing! All controls and inputs are working as they should…EXCEPT… the phono input. I’m not sure what’s going on, but there is a distinct, buzzing noise in one of the channels. If you want to use this receiver with a turntable, you will either need a separate phono preamp (input into one of the aux inputs) or this will need to be repaired. Build quality is excellent and she sounds really good, albeit with the noted phono input issue. This is a PARTS OR REPAIR NO RETURN AUCTION. Any questions at all, please do ask before bidding.
