Just very slight scuff on one corner / edge (see picture) *Local collection prefered due to weight of item, but can arrange courier at buyers cost* Model description; Equipped with the noise-canceling Dolby system. The Akai 4000DB is an attractively designed compact tape deck offering multiple connections and controls and quality features among which are Akais one micron gap heads for high density recording and the well known Dolby Noise Reduction System. Akais one-micron gap head is responsible for an amazingly important difference in tape recording. Its the difference between ordinary performance and high density quality recording and playback. Ordinary head gaps are from 2 to 4 microns, but the gap of this outstanding head is only one micron. This high density recording system provides excellent frequency response and clear, high pitched sound is generated as a frequency tone and recorded smoothly without distortion. With the Dolby Noise Reduction System, hissing noise heretofore thought impossible to eliminate, is reduced to a completely inaudible level. Basically, this circuit boosts the low level signals prior to recording and lowers them by precisely that same amount at playback time. During this revolutionary process, the extraneous noise is eliminated, thus also eliminating tape hiss. Clean item with exception of two small marks as shown in photos. I’ve owned this for the last 35 years and it was working fine until it went into storage 20 years ago. It powers up , VU meters, rewind and forward work. It might just be the heads that need cleaning and a general service. Having said this, it’s sold as seen and for parts or repair. Spools are not included, although I have several reels of used tape for separate purchase if required.

Hi, this is my well-loved original collection of hi-fi separates - most vintage, brilliant analogue build quality that you dont get with modern systems - perfect for anyone into vinyl and analogue music in general. That is, except for the Majority Fitzwilliam II internet / DAB radio which was bought for me at Christmas, which is in like new condition as it was hardly used. It comes with manual and remote control. Cost £150 originally. But now on to the really cool stuff! AKAI GX-4000DB REEL TO REEL TAPE DECKTHIS IS THE MODEL WITH THE GLASS & FERRITE TAPE HEADS. ALSO THIS IS THE DOLBY SOUND SYSTEM ONE.Includes: 2 x GENUINE AKAI METAL SPOOLS AND A TAPE THAT WAS USED TO TEST THE RECORDING FUNCTIONA PRINTED (NON ORIGINAL ) OPERATOR MANUALThis item accounts for the main part of the price of the whole bundle - the Dolby version of this deck is rare (check eBay sold prices for yourself ????) and normally goes for over £300. As you can see the condition all round is excellent - the only large area of damage is scratches to the cover to the heads (see photos)Please see the video that shows it working. The final clip shows the minor crackle on the volume control as you adjust it - theres no crackle when you dont adjust it. Easy bit of maintenance with some Deoxit spray (I dont have any..!) Dual 505 Record Turntable Vintage Hifi Vinyl Record Deck PlayerAgain, please see the video - it comes with a spare original stylus (used). Playback is smooth and excellent. Cosmetically its in good to reasonable condition. The lid (as always with these) is scuffed and marked in places. I have placed plastic wedges between the lid and the hinges to prevent it from slipping out of the hinges. Theres also stress fractures (theyre not actually cracked) around the lid at the back from the hinges. The headshell and stylus is held on with a cable tie as the clip on the headshell snapped, but I simply altered the counterweight to compensate for the weight of the tie. You can get replacement stylus clips on eBay - but this worked fine for me so I never bothered..! NAD 7020E Stereo Receiver (3020i amplifier + tuner) with phono inputAs you can see from the photos and videos, this is in great general condition. It really is one of the classic amps for warm analogue sound, particularly from the DUAL record deck. The only issue with this is the FM radio - theres static being received but I only clipped in a piece of wire as an aerial and couldnt get it to pick up a station. AM works fine though. NAD 8020e Standmount / Bookshelf SpeakersThe perfect match for the amp as they came out in the same year. They sound brilliant. Cosmetically in very good condition for their age, please see photos for the fabric covers taken off to show the cones. PLEASE NOTE: THIS ITEM IS COLLECTION ONLY FROM PETERBOROUGH and I am not selling these separately as I am moving house shortly and its easier to demo and sell all at once. 100% Genuine and Original Akai 4000DB Operators Manual. This is the original documentation that came with my machine when I purchased it in 1975 - (not a cheap PDF copy - this is the real thing!). Condition is fair for its age but some yellowing and discolouration to paper as you would expect for printed material some 48 years old.
