This model was just before the NRB.It has XLR and 1/4 TRS connections. I will include a pair of gold-plated 1/4 TRS to RCA adaptors also. The pro models have the potentiometers in the front, just above the number 4, to adjust the right and left channels independently. Brystons 4B stereo power amplifier consists of two amplifier modules, each with its own ±85v power supply, which can be operated independently or combined (MONO mode) to form a single 800 watt amplifier (8? load) in a 3 rack height chassis. Operated independently (DUAL mode) each channel can deliver 250 watts into 8? (or 400 watts into 4?). Each of the two amplifier modules use 8 of Brystons custom power transistors, for a total of 16 output devices per 4B. It has not been used for about 15 years. Sent to Bryston Canada early this year for a complete checkup. I wanted them to make sure it was operating at factory specs. Received it back in June. A copy of the receipt is included. I only opened the box to powered it on and take photos. Played it for about an hour. It sounds fantastic!!! You will not find a cleaner 4b amplifier. Only thing it needs is some new rubber stick on feet on the bottom. You can find them here on eBay pretty cheap. Never been rack mounted, no scratches on the front panel, top plate or sides. I am selling this to finance my Class A amplifier. This amp sounds awesome, better than any live music venue uses. Im pretty sure anyway, Ive gone to a few. Although the amp in theory still has 8+ years on Brystons famous 20 year warranty, it is moot because I dont have the original receipt. I have for sale a Bryston B135 SST2 integrated amplifier. It functions and sounds wonderful, but as you can see, it has a number of cosmetic issues. There are scratches on the front face, some of the white labeling has rubbed off, and there is a bend in the top panel immediately above and below the left heat sink. I have labored to document the cosmetic issues full in the photos above. No power cable or remote control is included, but the original manual is. Testing Process: We start with a visual inspection of all internal components to make sure that there are no signs of heat stress or damage. Capacitors are checked for telltale signs of predictive failure including bulging, shrunken wrappers, or physical leakage. We also inspect the PCBs for discoloration from resistors or transistors that may have been running hot. On vintage units we often spot check select capacitors for value and ESR. If the amplifier passes visual inspection, we move on to a controlled power on sequence using a Sencore safety analyzer to monitor current draw in real time. Once the amplifier is determined to be safe to operate, we connect it to full AC mains for function and power testing. We connect the speaker outputs of the amplifier to a Sencore PA81 Power Analyzer which acts as a dummy load, DC offset monitor, and oscilloscope interface. We start with a low level 1KHz test signal at the amplifier’s input and slowly increase its amplitude while monitoring the output on an oscilloscope for signs of noise, clipping, distortion, or improper channel balance. We continue increasing the signal level until the amplifier reaches clipping. At this point we take an output power measurement and compare it to the spec sheet of the amplifier to verify proper performance. If the device under test has both balanced and single ended inputs they are both tested at this time. We finish off the bench evaluation with a 1KHz square wave check and a 20Hz to 20KHz sine sweep to assess the amplifier’s frequency response characteristics. This battery of tests will usually reveal if the amplifier has any issues that need further attention. Before the device leaves the bench, we perform a listening test with actual music using a variety of preferred test tracks. Our benches are outfitted with familiar monitor speakers which help us identify inconsistencies that will not always show up on our test gear. The main things that we are listening for are hum or noise with no signal present, proper center image, clicks, pops, or any other obvious undesirable audio characteristics. If the unit passes all of these tests it is moved to our long term testing rig where we simulate real word operating conditions for 6-8 hours.
