There arerules, though, and a diagram in the owners manual prescribes properdistances speakers should be from walls, from each other, and fromthe listener in order to obtain optimal results. SonicHolography was a Carver staple long before digital signal processingbecame de rigueur for A/V receivers; presumably thats why Carverchose to leave ambience modes out of the HR-895.
