It is our pleasure to offer this Kenwood R-2000 shortwave radio receiver for your consideration. This receiver was manufactured in Japan from 1983-1992 and originally sold as a top performing, but modestly priced unit. As is typical of these early Japanese receivers, the unit is built of sturdy parts, using a heavy gauge metal cabinet and a carry handle for toting it into remote locations. It is capable of receiving from 150 KHz to 30 MHz uninterrupted tuning using a range of listening modes. This Kenwood R-2000 receiver came to us with some marks on the covers from previous ownership. The covers could be repainted if the buyer found this to be objectionable. The front panel shows minor marking and this is what you view when operating the receiver. We have taken HD pictures to enable up close viewing so that you can easily see the receiver as if it was sitting on the table in front of you. Electrically, everything on this R-2000 works fine but we noticed that the display reads off (high) by about 300 Hz. When listening to signals on mediumwave and shortwave using the AM mode, you will not even realize the slight discrepancy. When you tune using sideband on the amateur frequencies, youll likely notice that someone transmitting on say 3975.0 KHz will read at 3973.3 KHz on the display. This receivers functions and features have been fully tested to verify operation and proper sensitivity and we found no issues or shortcomings. Sensitivity was Kenwood perfect. But if you like to know what is going on elsewhere and find the standard fare of TV entertainment to be unfulfilling, then you would enjoy hearing a variety of shortwave broadcasts for a nice change. It is common to hear news from around the world in English and other programming such as jazz shows, cooking programs, history, stamp collecting, drama, and sports, and other such shortwave broadcasts that can be most entertaining and enlightening.
