Auch wenn das bisweilen vorzügliche Ergebnisse zutage förderte, muss man doch festhalten, dass der Hörraum – und nicht Messgeräte – das entscheidende Entwicklungswerkzeug darstellte. Und dann kam einer, der mit seiner 1975 gegründeten Firma in der Entwicklung industrieller Messtechnik tätig war, der Physik und Elektrotechnik genauestens kannte und wusste, dass es eine Menge Grundlagenforschung erfordert, um bahnbrechende neue Technologien und Erkenntnisse zu gewinnen. Hans M. Strassner konnte sich aber nicht nur durch seinen wissenschaftlichen Hintergrund schnell in der deutschen HiFi-Landschaft etablieren. Er bemerkte, dass es eine wichtige Nischezu füllen galt, die seine Ideen praktisch konkurrenzlos machte – es ging um den„letzten Meter“. Für seine Firma HMS entwickelte er alles, was erforderlich war, um den Strom aus der Wandsteckdose in die Anlage zu leiten und um die Signale verlust- und einstreuungsfrei innerhalb der Komponenten auszutauschen. Den Anfang machten niederinduktive Lautsprecherkabel, gefolgt von NF-Strippen sowie Stromleitern und -verteilern, darunter auch die ersten gefilterten Mehrfachsteckdosen mit audiophiler Ausrichtung.An der Erkenntnis, dass Kabel Komponentenstatus besitzen, hatte HMS damit einen entscheidenden Anteil.
