Pair of KEF Model 102 Reference Series speakers with KEF Kube 102. Circa late 1980s. The Kube is a bass frequency extender and is needed for best sound. Important: your amp or receiver must have a Tape2/Monitor button or send-return (effects loop) capability to utilize the Kube. Two-way system with 6 and 1.25 drivers. The drivers are all original and perform well. I replaced the ferrofluid in both tweeters in 2022 after noticing reduced high frequencies. The high frequency response is restored. Very good cosmetic condition. There is a ding and scratch in the finish of one speaker (see photos).Deep reddish brown cherry finish.One of the grill cloths mounting pegs is slightly pushed in, which pushes the grill cloth outward in one corner, but it has not punctured the cloth. Power cords for the Kube are included. RCA cables for Kube/receiver connection and speaker wires for receiver/speaker connection are NOT included. Dimensions of one speaker: 8 3/16 wide x 13 tall x 10 3/8 deep with grill cloth on. The owners manual for these is free to read online for tech specs, wire connections, and suggested placement within your listening space. Used Kef Kube equalizer for model 102 speakers. Comes with AC cord and 2 RCA cords. It lights up when I plug it in, but I dont have the speakers to test it. I got it from a friends estate who was very careful with their gear, so I expect it works fine.

KEF 102 Reference Series Bookshelf Speakers with Kube all in box. I got these from a collector in a trade deal. I opened the box with speakers to verify that they are still factory packaged. The cube I opened up as well to make sure it was complete. Please see the pictures. Box matches the serial number to the speakers. As shown. Make sure your receiver/ amplifier has the ability to have the kube in the loop. Preamplifier to amp rca connections. Might be able to use the tape loop as well. I strongly suggest looking into this before buying. These are the mid to late 80s. They have never been opened besides the box for verification purposes. Nothing is rattling around. Returns are welcome if they are still sealed as shown. Due to part swapping No returns if you opened them from factory wrapping. You will often see 102’s offered for sale without the Kube. Although they will work and sound very nice, the level of subtle bass and extended overall performance enabled by the Kube is quite remarkable. Close your eyes and you wouldn’t believe that you’re hearing this quality of sound from such a diminutive enclosure.
