I do have the original box and packing, but this thing is a tank, and tanks are too heavy for me to lift. LOL! SHIPPING IS $250 DUE TO WEIGHT AND SIZE OF BOX Please note: This is a gem in this condition. This is why I have had it for sale here on ebay for local pickup only. The build quality is simply SUPERB! It’s weight almost 120lbs out of the box for this reason local pickup in person is advised to avoid expensive shipping cost and shipping damage. I purchased it 2 years ago from the nice local original audiophile owner who purchased it brand new I beleive in 1988-1989 and after purchased he hardly used it due to very busy schedule storing it back in its original box when not in use. In my possession I took of the top cover to blow out the minute dust that had accumulated on heat sinks and components and to inspect the components inside . One look inside and you go away very impressed with what you see ! Massive transformers , power supply electrolytic capacitors as big as beer cans and rows and 2 rows of GIANT! To-3 discrete transistors per channel mounted on massive heat sinks . I auditioned this amp connected to a audiophile Bryson 1 B stereo solid state PRE AMP and pair of audiophile Denmark JAMO concert 7 speakers as well as JBL huge audiophile vintage speakers , the sound blew me away! I taken great care of it and it had been used very sparingly due to my busy schedule , it look like it just left the KRELL factory! Krell KAV-250A Stereo Power Amplifier 2 channel 250/500 8/4 Ohms Great Condition Technical highlights The KSA-250 is, without a doubt, the most visually appealing amplifier that Krell has yet marketed. Though large and very heavy, the presentation is one of stoic grace rather than imposing high-tech visual intrusion. The amplifier body is finished in flat black, with heatsinks externally lining both sides from front to back. The rear panel is neatly laid out, with single-ended phono sockets and balanced female XLR connectors on either side. Additionally, there are two sets of five-way binding posts for loudspeaker cable connections, which makes speaker bi-wiring a breeze. The front panel is finished in an elegant brushed-gray finish with large, black, attractive, downward-facing handles. The feather-touch power switch is located in the center of the front panel, just above the ubiquitous Krell logo. A blue LED power tally light is positioned just above the switch. All in all, a very nicely designed package. Internally, the KSA-250 is a study in simplicity as well as a technological tour de force. The 4.5kVA transformer, which by itself weighs 85 pounds (!), is located just behind the front panel, and is in turn followed by four 47,000µF capacitors covered by a printed circuit board. It is important to note that there is no wiring in the signal path, all connections being made via the pcb in the front end, and gold-plated copper-beryllium busbars in the output stage. There are 24 output devices per channel, all operating in class-A mode down to 3 ohms, where the amplifier reverts to class-AB (see Sidebar 3). The KSA-250 utilizes class-A circuitry throughout the audio and power-supply regulation stages, and can actually generate 320Wpc into 8 ohms. It is DC-coupled throughout, without any capacitors in the signal path, and is a fully modular design employing gas-tight pressure connections between all subassemblies, allowing quick and easy servicing in the field.

Used, manufactured circa 1989. Line scuffs and minor scratches can be seen on the entire top panel. There is a line scratch on the logo on the back and some scratches and dirt on the handles. There are also some scratches on the corners, but considering the age of the item, it seems to have been used relatively cleanly.There were no problems with operation, but since this is a high-end product, it was checked and maintained by an audio repair store before being exhibited. The unit is in good working order and the sound output is excellent. The only attached item is the power cord. We have cleaned and checked the operation. For older audio products, we assume that the operation has been checked as long as there are no differences or defects at a level that can be confirmed by ear. We have not checked the exact output ratio using an oscilloscope or other means. Krell KAV-250A Stereo Power Amplifier 2 channel 250/500 8/4 Ohms Great Condition Technical highlights The KSA-250 is, without a doubt, the most visually appealing amplifier that Krell has yet marketed. Though large and very heavy, the presentation is one of stoic grace rather than imposing high-tech visual intrusion. The amplifier body is finished in flat black, with heatsinks externally lining both sides from front to back. The rear panel is neatly laid out, with single-ended phono sockets and balanced female XLR connectors on either side. Additionally, there are two sets of five-way binding posts for loudspeaker cable connections, which makes speaker bi-wiring a breeze. The front panel is finished in an elegant brushed-gray finish with large, black, attractive, downward-facing handles. The feather-touch power switch is located in the center of the front panel, just above the ubiquitous Krell logo. A blue LED power tally light is positioned just above the switch. All in all, a very nicely designed package. Internally, the KSA-250 is a study in simplicity as well as a technological tour de force. The 4.5kVA transformer, which by itself weighs 85 pounds (!), is located just behind the front panel, and is in turn followed by four 47,000µF capacitors covered by a printed circuit board. It is important to note that there is no wiring in the signal path, all connections being made via the pcb in the front end, and gold-plated copper-beryllium busbars in the output stage. There are 24 output devices per channel, all operating in class-A mode down to 3 ohms, where the amplifier reverts to class-AB (see Sidebar 3). The KSA-250 utilizes class-A circuitry throughout the audio and power-supply regulation stages, and can actually generate 320Wpc into 8 ohms. It is DC-coupled throughout, without any capacitors in the signal path, and is a fully modular design employing gas-tight pressure connections between all subassemblies, allowing quick and easy servicing in the field.
