Philips Mullard EF37A EF36 NOS ideal for Leak TL 12.1 Valve Amplifier Click image to enlarge Description Philips Mullard EF37A Audio Pentodes circa 1960s RARE   A rare pair of N.O.S. of Philips Mullard Miniwatt EF37A  audio pentodes, circa late 1950s early 1960s. Made in Great Britain,  Philips/Mullard  Blackburn, plant with the same batch and date codes. The EF37A was the most refined evolvement of the famous EF36 pentode employed as the front end amplifier used in the very first series of the famous Leak TL 12.1 KT66 amplifier, later this was updated to the EF37 and then the EF37A. I have several Leak TL12.1s and I have found the choice of well-matched and performing EF37As is paramount for excellent performance and in my opinion the best sounding front end tube for the Leak and other tubes amps. Measured for emission, leakage and mutual conductance and both exceed the specification for a NEW EF37A. This amp has been restored, a lot of components were replaced but it still doesnt work correctly. When I powered it up, it was humming quite severely, making crackling noises and after a few minutes one of the resistors started to smoke. So, it needs the kind of attention Im not experienced enough to provide. It comes as shown with a set of valves, a Bulgin power cable and an Octal interconnect. Yes, Ill ship overseas.
