Posting this piece of gear for a friend. There will be more high-end audio items to follow... You are bidding on an excellent original condition example of the Mark Levinson ML-1 Stereo Preamplifier, with the rare optional moving coil phono module. Also included is the PLS-150 external power supply. I believe this is a second owner piece. It has been with the current owner since the early 1980s. I spent time listening to it in those days, so I can verify that fact. They moved on to other gear, and this unit has been stored for some time. I had it powered up for at least a week, listening to it periodically to verify operation, and heard no issues. There are a couple of switches that could use a bit of a clean. NOTE: It appears that Phono 2 was wired directly to the input of the MC phono module. This was done in the 1980s or earlier. Probably done to reduce signal path, and avoid the phono selector switch. Not sure if this was a factory or user mod. Could be reversed easily if desired. Workmanship quality is good. Just an FYI. Also included is a selection of interconnect cables that have had RCA connectors added to one end, so you can connect all of your current gear to the ML-1 without having to worry about adapters. The right channel worked great and produced wonderful and full music. The left channel did not make any sound. Nothing. I removed the cover and looked inside circuitry. It looked OK to me but I only have VERY basic knowledge in electronics. See posted pictures of the inside. I did touch the heat sink and found the right channel was warm but the left channel was basically cold. I used my multimeter and took voltages at several random spots. Both right and left shows some readings. So, the left channel did get power but just not working properly. Thats my assessment. The left channel obviously needs repair. My low asking price reflects the condition this amplifier is in. Physical condition is good, of course far from being pristine. There are wear, scratches, etc. This sale includes the amplifier only, as shown in the pictures. Nothing else is included. Ill ship worldwide. Local cash and carry is great. The ML-1 is completely black anodized with white lacquer-filled engravings, it has a timeless appearance due to a slimline visual footprint and symmetrical control layout. When it was introduced in 1977 it was considered to be the best solid state preamp available on the market. Until then it was thought that this sound quality was only possible with tubes. The sound is clean and precise, but at the same time musical and smooth. It clearly outperformed all competing solid state offerings at that time. The sound quality is rivaled today only by new much more expensive gear. The phono section is still one of the smoothest regardless of cost. You will not be disappointed with this items performance.
