Pioneer SX-550 Stereo Receiver AM/FM Radio Tuner/Phono/Tape/Aux Amplifier in Working condition. Overall, the unit is in generally good working condition cosmetically showing some wear to thin plastic wood effect laminates on both side panels. I acquired this receiver (circa two years ago) more out of curiosity from a reputable eBayer and has had very little use ever since. It has therefore become surplus to requirements as I have recently upgraded my Technics classic hi-fi Separates gear. Good Points: · Display illuminates well. · The glass display looks good with no cracks, light inside goes all the way from left to right, with both power and stereo indications showing/indicating as appropriate. · Front colour/Display side is silver, black main body and wood effect-laminate on both sides. · The built in tuner and Aux input both works well (N.B. The Aux input was tested with a CD Player). · Both speaker channels tested separately and together, all working well. · Unit is supplied with a UK mains power, kettle style power lead. · No so good points: · Top of unit has some marks, and some dust has accumulated over years around connectors and speaker terminals on the rear due to lack of regular use (see attached pictures FYI) · Laminate on wooden sides is showing ware with some sections of thin laminate peeling off. · The tape deck (tape monitor 1&2) also works well but not as ‘clear’ as the Aux input? This could be due my Tape Deck player which itself could be due for service? · The phono input and the headphone socket have not been tested as I do not have the means to carry out the test at time of listing. Nice little Pioneer SX-550 Fully tested and produces sound through speakers, but is no t very loud, so there’s some issue internally. Gave it a quick deox and it didn’t help much. All lamps working. Face is very nice, side panels show some edge veneer wear. Therefore being sold as is for parts or repair Will be packed well to ensure safe delivery

This is a very nice unit. I cleaned all the knobs and switches with de-oxit. Im not a professional technician but I am a fairly skilled hobbyist with a can of de-oxit. I played it quite a while. It tuned nicely. The sound was not scratchy. It had a very clean sound out of both speakers. Due to the nature of vintage electronics, there is no warranty available from me personally. As you can see from previous feedback my customers have been pleased with the units Ive sent out as well as the packaging. With that being said these units are 45 years or so in age. If your new to the hobby I highly recommend watching a few youtube videos on cleaning knobs, switches etc with de-oxit. This will keep you enjoying your stereo. One other thing worth knowing if youre new to this hobby is that capacitors and diodes were not really meant to last 45 plus years so no matter whom you purchase your vintage stereo with its kind of wise to have a tech on speed dial in case something like that goes out. Normally you can tell because there will be swelling or leaking on the inside. As you can see I have a picture of that too for you. Anyhow, once again.. this is a nice sounding working unit. I merely tell you these things because I do not accept reurns and some things like light bulbs, slight peeling and foreseeable future issues are fairly normal. I think youll be pleased with this unit. Please dont let me scare you off. I do ship after e-bay and b.o.a. payout so its vitally important to get your payment in immediately following auctions end.
