This is the new 12th Edition Pontus dac from Denafrips. It is less than 3 months old and in as new condition.The sound of this dac is a match or better than dacs twice the price.Suffice to say that it took a Weiss 502 for me to hear a worthwhile improvement over the Pontus.

For sale is a lightly used Denafrips Pontus II. This DAC has been my daily driver for 2+ years. It sounds beautiful, warm, organic, and completely non-fatiguing. It is a true delight to hear. Selling because, unfortunately, I need the money. Purchased/shipped in January 2021. (This is important to know since there have been a couple different manufacturing runs.) The latest USB MCU firmware update from November 2021 is installed. (Stock version had some flakiness with the USB input, but this was completely fixed, it has been 100% rock solid since the Nov 21 update.) As you may know, the sound signature of these units is largely implemented in the FPGA firmware, so different firmwares sound quite noticeably different. The current firmware installed on this particular unit is the 1.0 version, however there have recently been some updates to that- a 1.4 FPGA firmware was released in May 2023. I compared the two versions and found I preferred the 1.0 firmware, but that is just a personal preference and certainly 1.4 does sound better in some very objective ways. They both sound excellent. Do your own research and see what people are saying on the forums. Heres the fun part: YOU, the buyer, pick if you would like 1.0 firmware or 1.4 firmware installed on the unit before I ship it out. (Its somewhat annoying to install the firmware update software on your computer, so you can get the benefit of me having done it already.) If you decide you want to experiment with the firmware later on your own, you can tell Vinshine its a EP4CE22F Pontus. (Thats the FPGA type.) Unit has seen hundreds of hours of use, plus I burned it in with pink noise for a long, long time. It is completely reliable, incredibly musical, and built like a tank. Denafrips Pontus II 2 DAC Digital Audio Converter. This DAC made my previous DAC sound like it was broken , such was the difference. It really is an astonishing bit of kit. I purchased this in March 22 from Vinshine Audio as part of my bid to build my dream HiFi so still has nearly 2 years warranty left. Denafrips are an amazing company that continue to support their DACs - they have just released an FPGA firmware update for this DAC - I havent installed it so the buyer can have the choice of whether to do it https://www.denafrips.com/firmware-update There is a small scratch on the top right of the faceplate that was sustained in the shipping from Singapore to the UK, I have and will include with the sale a new faceplate Denafrips sent as compensation but I never saw the need to fit it.
