You are bidding on British design classic - a pair of QUAD ESL 57 speakers. These are in bronze and excellent cosmetic condition for there age. Serial number 7899 and 6524. The speakers look to have been serviced in recent years. From what I can see thru the grills - the bass and treble panels have been replaced and are very clean with no rips or tears to the dust covers. The bass panels and treble panels all seem to match visually and sonically. The rear acoustic wadding has been removed from both speakers. This is common practice as the material can smell a bit after many years. There are no dents in the grills. I have tested the speakers over the last 2 weeks or so, and they sound great. They power up very quickly, with no issues at all. No clicks, fizz or humming. The volume of both speakers are the same.The speakers come with a set of 3 pin Bulgin mains cables I’ve uploaded good quality photos. So, grab yourself a bargain and a piece of hi-fi history. The speakers are working perfectly, but due to their age and transportation, I cannot offer a guarantee or returns, therefore the speakers are sold “as is”. Quad ESL 2905 full range Electrostatic loudspeakers in the more expensive optional Classique finish. They sound fantastic, especially with a valve amplifier, and are working perfectly. The fabric is unmarked and the magnetic connector covers are in place. The Quad logos on both speakers illuminate as they should. The ESLs include a custom cast plinth to significantly increase stability - photo 2. They fix to the original plinth using the original feet fixing holes, and the additional cast plinths then have gold adjustable spikes fitted. These add significant mass to the speakers, which were already quite heavy, lowering the centre of gravity and so stabilising the panel. The only blemish is a small scratch on the upper surface of the plinth at the rear of one speaker, this is shown on photo 7. I do not have the packing boxes, so collection (or delivery) will need to be arranged, with a suitably large vehicle. These are great speakers with a truly great musical presentation and I am only selling as I dont have the space to keep them. Nothing can touch them (in my opinion) at anything near this price.
