Both show minimal signs for previous use with just the odd light marks and scratches as expected with any used item. The CD lens has been physically cleaned, and the amps pots have all be cleaned with contact cleaner. A great retro setup that sounds absolutely outstanding! The renowned Rega Planet MK1 CD Player is considered by many to be one of the best CD Players that Rega ever created, even more so than its newer counterparts.... Includes the original Solar remote controller which controls both the Amp and CD Player, fitted power leads, and 1 x RCA cable to connect the CD Player to the amplifier. For PARTS/REPAIR Rega Planet CD Player Transport No Remote Non Functional --- Powers on but does NOT read CDs, Ill describe the behavior below but first noting observable condition issues, (a friend bought this at a thrift store so other than that I dont know anything about its past history, Ive never personally seen it working and I dont know how many hours etc its been used). --- A few things that caught my attention as far as condition goes: 1. NOTE the RUST on the two hex head screws in the front of the transport on the top deck that you can see when the lid is lifted. 2. NOTE the plastic fitting/grommet where the power cord comes out of the back of the player is broken and loose (the cord/plug itself is fine and has no repairs or damage) 3. Also NOTED the window on the lid looks hazy and foggy, I dont know if that should be clear (the foggy/hazy window just doesnt seem right). 4. When I was testing the player I noticed that the top spindle on the lid was WOBBLY, the disc was spinning normally in the transport, after it stopped spinning I pressed on that spindle to see if it wasnt properly seated and it seemed to improve but was still visibly not in a flat plane and was undulating etc (it didnt make any noises etc, just something I saw). 5. One of the rubber boots on one of the feet has come out of tjhe groove (each foot is composed of a rubber disc on the top and bottom with a rubber boot between them presumably covering some kind of suspension mechanism), I tried tucking the boot back in but it seems to just bulge out, probably from being stored like that for some time, the foot itself seems fine like the others. --- TESTING: If you put a CD in and press the Play button the display changes from 0 to 1 and the CD will spin for a few seconds, then the display goes back to 0 and the CD comes to a stop. If you then press play again it wont do anything, you have to power it down and turn it on again before you can get the play button to again go to 1, during that few seconds that the disc is spinning you can advance the track number, in my evaluation I advanced to track 4 and the transport moved in a manner like it was searching for a track (short revolution then stop then again moving etc), but regardless it just stops and goes back to zero again. --- I didnt do any cleaning to the exterior. I can see dust etc on the case and inside the top deck fins etc. --- The lid hinges feel fine. --- The only thing Ive seen on the display are track numbers, no other display elements could be tested. --- No original box, just the player as shown, years ago I was an audio nut and have shipped a lot of equipment over the decades, I pack so the box can be dropped onto concrete etc. --- See photos for condition details. --- Will be well packed --- See shipping options above --- Payment expected within 3 days of purchase (contact me if you need more time). --- The item description is guaranteed to be accurate but all items are sold as-is unless otherwise stated. --- I dont have a way to arrange for a local pick-up of this item, Im sorry for the inconvenience

It took the completion of two of our multi award winning products, the flagship Isis CD player and the Rega DAC to pave the way for a unique product we feel encapsulates everything the new Apollo-R should be. The original Apollo CD player launched in 2005. It was a huge success selling approaching 20,000 units worldwide. The Apollo was a unique player featuring Rega’s own software and control system ensuring no other manufacturers player could sound the same. This key element is carried forward and improved into Apollo-R. Development of the analogue, digital and control domains ensured direct improvements of both analogue and digital outputs making the Apollo-R a perfect partner for the Rega Brio-R amplifier and an ideal ‘CD format’ front-end for the Rega DAC. The Apollo-R internal circuitry has also been improved by tightening the PCB layout. Apollo-R is a top loading design housed in a custom compact aluminium case matching the Rega DAC and Brio-R amplifier. The Apollo-R is available in both black or satin silver finish. To the best of our understanding, there have only ever been five large multinational companies with the technology and knowledge base to develop the remarkably complex operating software for CD players. Development of this software and chip-sets to operate CD transports was generally curtailed in the 1990’s. After this time all development effort was directed towards the design of DVD players and other advanced formats. Rega and other specialist Hi Fi manufacturers were totally reliant on companies like Sony and Philips to supply transports and their operating chip-sets. In 2003 Sony stopped supply and sent the specialist Hi Fi industry into a flurry of activity in search of feasible alternatives.
