Rega Planar 2 Turntable with RB220 Tonearm and AT-VM95L cartridge. Well loved turntable that I have used since late 2021 and replaced the stock cartridge with the Audio Technica AT-VM95ML which sounds fantastic. I have also upgraded the belt of the turntable to the Reference EBLT as well as a slightly thicker slipmat, both of which really improved the experience of this turntable. The only issue is a persistent ground hum which can likely be fixed by someone with know-how that I dont have, but it doesnt overpower the music and still sounds absolutely fantastic! Only selling due to downsizing my physical media collection. Only will accept pick-ups due to the risk of shipping damage, will give demo on arrival.

Here i am selling my fathers Michell Gyrodec Turntable. I endeavour to be as honest as possible with the description, however please be aware i am not a Hi-Fi expert. I am selling this on behalf of my father who is selling his house and downsizing, unfortunately this includes his stereo system and sadly the Gyrodec has got to go. Plinth & Lid This the full plinth model including hinged lid and dates from the early to mid 1980s.The plinth and lid are in good condition with no chips or deep scratches. This is not the clear plinth but rather the smoked acrylic one.The plinth also features the brass Gyrodec Badge, the brass itself has become mottled over time (my dad wasnt one for polishing) this can be seen in picture two. However i am sure that brasso should revive it. TurntableThe turntable is in good working condition and has been tested at both 33 1/3 & 45rpm and works perfectly. The bearing oil just been replaced. It is worth mentioning that there is an ever so slight grinding noise coming from the spindle. This is presumably due to thrust ball within the spindle becoming slightly worn. This is an easy fix as the thrust ball can be accessed without tools and i am told that a new thrust ball can acquired from Michell. This noise is only audible when there is no music playing, and is barely noticeable. I only bring it up to be as honest as possible. Something else worth pointing out is that the suspension towers are missing the caps/covers. To my knowledge i dont ever remember these being on the turntable. However should you want to replace them i am told that Michell can supply them. Tonearm & Cartridge The Turntable has recently been refitted with an unbadged Rega RB-250 Tonearm after the wiring on the previous RB-250 became damaged. Although the current tonearm does not have any Rega branding on it (it previously was fitted to a Technics deck) comparing it to the removed arm it is absolutely identical and clearly an RB-250.The tonearm is in good working order. As im sure the eagle eyed among you will have noticed the turntable is fitted with a relatively cheap Audio Technica cartridge. Although it is perfectly functioning it has only been fitted to demonstrate that the turntable is in working order. It would be assumed that whoever purchases the turntable would want to fit a more suitable cartridge, however i will still include the Audio Technica in the sale. Power Supply The unit comes with the Michell Gyropower PSU unit. This was an upgrade and a passive device with a transformer and extensive RLC filtering of the motor voltage. I have been told that these sell between £200-£400 To Summarise this is a fantastic turntable and is in good working order with the exception of the bearing noise. It would benefit from being set up by somebody with more experience and expertise than myself. It also would be worth considering having it serviced, bearing it mind it is at least 30 years old. Audiophile Rega Planar 1 Turntable Record Player - RB110 Arm And AT95E cartridge Turntable recently serviced and in great condition - Rega RB 110 arm included - Audio technica AT95E cartridge The Planar 1 is equipped with Rega’s RB110 tonearm, which contains house-designed, patent-pending ultra-low friction bearings. The geometry of the tonearm, its position relative to the spinning plastic, and how it tracks along that plastic are all keystones in the performance of a turntable. A 24 Volt, synchronous AC motor with a lightweight aluminum pully spins the high mass phenolic (highly stable, dense epoxy) platter. Synchronous motors are nerdy-cool in many ways. They are more efficient than a traditional induction motor. This means less power to make the same pound-for-pound force. Less power means less heat and noise, things you don’t want in a phono setup. The speed is easier to control/regulate in a synchronous motor, which translates to less variation, known as wow and flutter, in the presentation of the music.

Classic Rega Planar 3 turntable with the RB300 arm a Linn K9 MM cartridge and a few nice upgrades. It has a stainless steel brace fitted which gives it the look of the later RP3 and adds some stiffness and also the added benefit of acting as a 2mm VTA spacer which is recommended when using non Rega cartridges. The original bearing has been replaced with a new ceramic one and fresh oil. The motor resistor and capacitor have also been replaced. It comes with a clear acrylic mat to show off the glass platter and brace and the original felt one as well. I cant vouch for the hours on the cartridge but it certainly seems to play well and these styluses can be replaced with the well known AT 95 series so an easy change when required. The only bad bit is the crack in the lid unfortunately - easily replaced though. Happy to show it running and for you to have a listen to if local. Collection obviously preferred due to the delicate nature of it but I can do my best to package securely and send by insured delivery but this is not a cheap option sorry.
