Sansui AU-D11 Integrated Amplifier For sale is the Sansui AU-D11. The amplifier has been serviced, partially recapped and fully tested. The changes/upgrades are listed below. SEE PHOTOS for imperfections that could not be remedied. THIS AMPLIFIER HAS BEEN FULLY TESTED FOR OVER 3 MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEMS. From a period review: On the test bench, the Sansui AU-D11 proved to be everything its manufacturer claimed. It is an extremely low-distortion, wide-band, low-noise, stable amplifier with almost all the control functions that might be desired by a serious audiophile. In our view, the excellent tone controls, flexible input and tape-recording facilities, and built-in MC head amplifier more than compensate for the amplifier’s ineffective filters. The absence of separate preamplifier outputs and power-amplifier inputs did not disturb us, since it is perfectly possible to use the AU-D11 as a power amplifier alone by driving its aux inputs with the tone controls bypassed. The AU-D11 has no loudness control, but its tone controls can do a far more effective job of correcting for hearing changes at low volume levels than any conventional “loudness control.” One might legitimately wonder why this amplifier carries such a high price tag, and taking off the handsome wooden cabinet provides at least some of the answers. It is a far cry from some of the starkly “basic” amplifiers we have seen and from the thrown-together look of some low-price products. It has an impressive number of components, with no evidence of skimping anywhere, and its internal construction would do credit to the most respected “high-end” manufacturer’s standards. All the metal surfaces are copper plated. The massive power supply occupies most of the center of the amplifier, and we counted more than 65,000 microfarads of filter capacitance in its power supply (far above the average for amplifiers of this power rating). Furthermore, the “wiring” between the filter capacitors and from them to the rectifiers is not wire at all: these connections are made with “U”-shaped metal channels, no doubt in the interest of achieving minimum power-supply impedance. To assess the Sansui AU-D11 properly, one should think of it as a state-of-the-art amplifier built for the most discriminating audiophile, rather than just another high-price product from a large Japanese manufacturer. Assuming that its power is adequate for the intended use and that no serious objections are raised to any of its control features (or lack thereof), we believe that there is no better amplifier to be had today. Naturally it sounds as good as amplifier can sound. This flagship of the Sansui line is an amplifier whose performance, combined with full protection for itself and the speakers, may possibly be equaled (though not cheaply) but is not likely to be surpassed. If something better came along we doubt that it could be measured with today’s instruments, since ours were operating at or beyond their design limits during our tests of the AU-D11. I bought this pre amp about ten years ago to use temporarily in my mancave while my CA-3000 pre amp was being restored, but I liked this CA-F1 pre amp enough that I kept it even after my other amp returned from the tech. So I then used this CA-F1 in my den along with a Sansui BA-3000 power amp driving Sony tower speakers They sound great together. I retired last year and moved to The Land of Enchantment, to a smaller home and therefore dont have the space anymore for all the hifi equipment Ive accumulated over the years. This preamp is very heavy for a preamp. It sounds great and is the perfect match for Sansui power amps from the 1970s and 80s like the BA-F1, BA-2000, BA-3000, etc. The green power light works when the amp powers up, all switches and controls work as they should with no extraneous noise. I cleaned all switches and pots and controls with Deoxit a couple years ago and it has never given me any problems. In my opinion the best looking turntable produced in the early 1970s. It features a user return function and also automatically returns the tonearm at the end of the record which saves the stylus from wearing out by sitting in the run out groove. Not only is it made of carefully chosen precision components but it has been designed with particular emphasis on ease of operation, reliability and tonal quality. It has been extremely well cared for. Even though it has been well cared for, it has probably sat unused for a long time, so has been given a complete restoration and service. Many hours of work go into restoring the turntables to their former glory and ensuring they operate at optimum performance. It comes to you in superb condition, fully serviced and restored and PlugnPlay ready for you to enjoy your vinyl music on arrival. The following work has been carried out on the turntable to prepare it for its new owner The motor was disassembled, old lubrication cleaned and new lubrication added to both the top and bottom bearings.The main centre bearing was fully stripped down, old lubrication cleaned out, a new ceramic bearing and new lubrication added.New foam inserts on the suspension springs to dampen vibrations.The motor spindle was cleaned and polished and set at the right position for correct speed.Thoroughly cleaned inside and out.The inside rim of the platter was cleaned of old belt residue and polished for proper belt grip.The outer rim of the platter was cleaned and polished to a bright finish.Dust cover polished to a high gloss.New drive belt added.New Audio Technica AT-3600L cartridge properly set up with the correct overhang and alignment.New quality RCA connection leadsSpeed checked as steady and accurate on both speeds using a strobe speed disc.I have restored many of these turntables. New damping foam was added to the suspension springs. The motor spindle and inside of the platter rim have been cleaned and a new belt fitted. The unit has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out. Finally, a brand new Audio Technica ST 3600L cartridge has been mounted, set up with the correct overhang and alignment. The tracking force has been set at 2g and the cartridge performs brilliantly. All settings have been set to provide the optimum sound reproduction. The turntable comes supplied with new quality audio leads and grounding cable for connection to your amplifier. Finally this comes with a printed instruction booklet. The work completed will ensure many years of enjoyable listening. This turntable is in superb condition cosmetically. The plinth is solid and the veneer is virtually new condition. The metal work has all been polished and is bright and shining. The lid has been polished to a high gloss. There are still a few light scratches but it looks impressive despite its age. These turntables were all about the sound and this one delivers. It has been sound tested through a Pioneer SX-434 amplifier and produces a rich listening experience. As with all vintage turntables you will need an amplifier with dedicated phono inputs, or you will need to run it through a phono stage pre-amp into the AUX connection of your amplifier. Sansui CA-F1 Stereo Pre Amplifier pre amp, 1979, 120v. I bought this pre amp about ten years ago to use temporarily in my mancave while my CA-3000 pre amp was being restored, but I liked this CA-F1 pre amp enough that I kept it even after my other amp returned from the tech. So I then used this CA-F1 in my den along with a Sansui BA-3000 power amp driving Sony tower speakers They sound great together. I retired last year and moved to The Land of Enchantment, to a smaller home and therefore dont have the space anymore for all the hifi equipment Ive accumulated over the years. This preamp is very heavy for a preamp. It sounds great and is the perfect match for Sansui power amps from the 1970s and 80s like the BA-F1, BA-2000, BA-3000, etc. The green power light works when the amp powers up, all switches and controls work as they should with no extraneous noise. I cleaned all switches and pots and controls with Deoxit a couple years ago and it has never given me any problems.
