Stax SRM1 Mk2 Professional electrostatic headphone amplifier.Normal and Professional bias output. The unit is in very good condition with the odd light mark here and there.Fully functional.

STAX SRM1/mk2 pro amplifier. Some small marks on paint and faceplate (see photos) but really in excellent condition given its age (these were manufactured from 1982 until 1995). I had this one refurbished as one channel didnt work when I bought it. Capacitors were replaced with better ones, along with some other bits and pieces. It now works flawlessly, but has seen little use since refurbishment. This has sat on a shelf unused for the last few years after I upgraded to a STAX T1 amp. I kept it as a spare but have now upgraded again. I dont need 3 STAX amps! This particular version is sometimes called the swiss army knife of STAX headphone amps, because the input voltage is switchable (100 / 117 / 220 / 240v) and it offers both normal and pro bias outputs. As a result it can be used anywhere in the world, and power any STAX headphone - (although it would be underpowered for the SR-007 or SR-009.) That doesnt mean it isnt loud enough to destroy your hearing in minutes at maximum volume with compatible headphones! NB: this will NOT work with dynamic headphones. It is an electrostatic amplifier, for electrostatic headphones (ie: STAX) I also have a very nice pair of STAX headphones (SR-404 signatures) listed and would be negotiable on price to combine the two. STAX SRM-1/MK2. Electrolytic power supply capacitors just replaced with appropriate larger value, long life, high temp versions. Settings calibrated. Should be good for at least another decade. If not refreshed as this is, these are all now old enough that the original wet capacitors will be needing replacement.Its had the Pro Bias portion of the main board populated to expand its use for high bias Stax earphones. These came in a few versions with the same board that simply needs to be populated for what is preferred. This one has been updated to do both standard (6 pin) and Pro (5 pin) bias. Easily removeable tape with PRO added to show that socket with the center hole plugged to prevent standard bias 6 pin bias phones into the 5 pin pro socket. Wouldnt damage them unless played quite loud but all sound better with the correct bias. Very good overall and excellent condition for its age. See pics. Careful of foreign sourced units without the mutli voltage tap in the back. 100v units do not run to spec in North America.
