This amplifier is a hi-fi cult favorite, known for its buttery midrange and smooth high frequency sound. Many people have said that this amp sounds tubelike. This amplifier is based on the famous Tripath digital amplifier design, sometimes referred to as class T but more correctly understood to be class D. What makes this amplifier particularly good is its built-in dual mono linear power supply. Linear power supplies offer lower noise tan switching supplies, and more consistent current delivery. You can see from the photos that this amplifier contains two complete linear DC supplies, each with its own hefty toroidal input transformer, resulting in an overall weight of about 12 lbs, pretty hefty for a small amplifier of this type. These generous power supplies ensure the amplifier stages can deliver their rated power into the speakers. In addition to the tank-like power supplies, the chassis itself is made of 5mm thick anodized aluminum, ensuring rigidity and helping to reject vibration. This amplifier works as it should - no noises, scratchy switches or volume controls. I bought this some time ago but never used it except to test that it functioned as it should.
