WORKING TOSHIBA XR-9328 CD COMPACT DISC PLAYER - VINTAGE 1990S I BELIEVE. GOOD CONDITION FOR THE AGE - THERE ARE A FEW SCRATCHES ON THE TOP BUT THE FRONT LOOKS PERFECT. A VERY SMALL PART OF THE NUMBERED DISPLAY IS FAULTY. (see picture 2 and 8, one of the small vertical lines is missing, so the 0 and the 4 are incomplete) THE FRONT LOADER MECHANISM IS SLIGHTLY STICKY, IT CLOSES PERFECTLY BUT NEEDS ENCOURAGEMENT TO OPEN. (it wouldnt open properly at first so i cleaned some bits of dust off the mechanism and now opens most of the time absolutely fine. sometimes you have to help it to start to open by gently pulling with a fingertip and then it opens out the rest of the way fine. i didnt want to mess about further or open it up incase i couldnt put it back together again!!) POWER CABLE INCLUDED. ALSO HAVE THE ORIGINAL REMOTE THAT DID WORK WHEN I PUT IT IN THE CUPBOARD BUT NOW DOESNT WANT TO! (req 3 x AAA batteries) UNSURE IF FIXABLE OR NOT BUT WILL INCLUDE IN SALE.

The radio portion also is not functional. Cosmetically the player is in decent shape with only minor scuffs and scratches. No batteries will be included with purchase. The headphone socket works but the volume control could do with some TLC. Typical of these sliding controls, they can be noisy and/or not reliable on one or both channels. ONE OF THE VERTICAL LOADING PLAYERS THAT WERE PRODUCED BY SEVERAL JAPANESE MANUFACTURERS. THEY WERE ALL SHORT LIVED AND ALL WERE REPLACED WITHIN A YEAR OR SO BY SECOND GENERATION MODELS USING THE HORIZONTAL LOADING METHOD THAT HAD BEEN ESTABLISHED BY PHILIPS AND SONY, BECOMING UNIVERSALLY ADOPTED. BUT ITS NICE TO SEE THAT DISC SPINNING THROUGH THE WINDOW ! THIS MODEL IS ONE OF THE BEST PERFORMERS OF ALL THOSE VERTICAL LOAD MODELS , AND THIS PARTICULAR EXAMPLE IS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. WITH A GOOD DISC IT READS THE TOC AS FAST AS ANY MODERN PLAYER. IT CHANGES TRACKS VERY QUICKLY AND PLAYS PERFECTLY. GENERALLY VERY POSITIVE - MOST VERTICAL LOADERS CAN BE ‘VAGUE’ OR HESITANT IN OPERATION. IF YOU’RE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THEM BE AWARE THAT THEY CAN BE A BIT ‘PICKY’ ABOUT WHAT DISCS THEY LIKE TO PLAY.
