Bose 901 Series IV B Equalize! I bought this as a back up and am downsizing. It was purchased unopened and I used it briefly before putting it away. I have series VI but prefer the (in my opinion) somewhat warmer sound of series III and IV, and it made my series VI sound sweet). The story behind IV B is they only made a very limited number of them as Series IV was being replaced by Series V. I was able to find on line from Bose that the series IV eq supply was used up and they had to utilize series V chassis, parts and cases to make this eq to have the correct series III and IV curve. The best part of it was Bose began to make the equalizers so much better at this time (1983 for this one, the beginning of the series V era) with much better quality everything. It would be a challenge to find a nicer one that this, if you could find one at all! This has some insignificant marks on the case, stains on the box and is really very nice. It sounds warm and wonderful as it should. Dont miss it! Best one you’ll likely ever see!

This unit is working, both channels nice and clean, perfect for series III or IV which I read share the same EQ curve, I just listened to an hour plus of Charlie Parker, Milt Jackson, Ellington and more and it sounded just great. I am a 901 owner myself (Series I and Series VI ver 2) and ran it on my own system. This made my system sound wonderful and despite what Bose may have put out in the past, you can absolutely tailor your own system with any series EQ you wish because although there are subtle differences, frankly they all sound great. This eq seems to have a slightly warmer sound than my series VI eq. If I were to keep it I would have the caps redone just because of the age, but it is working right now. This is listed as parts / not working because I cannot guarantee it and it is sold as is. If you have 901s this is what you need to make them sing. DHS speaker on ebay services these and for a small amount they end up as good as new if not better. The wood cabinet I feel is better than typical w/ some minor corner damage dings etc - not too much but just so you know. The aluminum face has more dings and rubs, but its clean and looks ok. Please see the pics. Ask questions please or ask for before pics before buying. Im auditioning it as I write this and its very nice, currently some later Johnny Cash, very clean sounding. If you have series III or IV in particular this is what youre looking for. These go high so bear in mind.... this will not last,,
