Es hat einen neuen Laser erhalten, der bisher lediglich zum Testen der Funktionalität ca. 20 Stunden gelaufen ist. Der neue Laser deutet nicht auf einen Mangel hin, sondern eher auf die begrenzte Lebenserwartung eines CD-Players. Da der Laser ein Verschleißteil mit endlicher Lebensdauer ist, haben gebrauchte Lasereinheiten immer ein diesbezügliches Risiko. Mit Glück erhält man ein Gerät mit wenig Betriebsstunden, mit Pech ein noch funktionierendes, dessen Laser aber schon am Ende ist und nur noch durch das Fehlerkorrektursystem des D/A-Konverters am Leben erhalten wird.
