For Sale - a Dynaco PAT-5 Preamp. I was given this by a relative with the intent of making it a project. I had previously built a Hafler DH-101, DH-110 DF-200 and DH-220 and was excited to replace all caps, resistors in the phono section with metal film, the power supply and output jacks. Unfortunately, a stroke has permanently sidelined me from all electrical projects of this nature so it is time to go! Overall unit is in good mechanical condition. Functionally it powers on fine however there is no output from either the output or headphone jacks - and all line level inputs were tested. There was no detectable hiss or switching noise on the headphone jack or when changing inputs. My guess is that one of the supply voltages is weak and the output stage will not bias up correctly - but that is merely a guess. As such it is priced accordingly. Plenty of pics are supplied to show the condition, this will make a great starting point for a rebuild. Sales to Continental USA addresses only. Buy with confidence, please check my feedback! Excellent sound on this beautiful vintage unit. Here is the work that was recently done:Capacitor and other component replacements on the 2x line stage boards (PC-34). Re-painted the exterior cabinetReplaced the plastic push buttons with beveled aluminum buttons. Deoxit/Faderlube on all switches, pots and controls. This unit sounds great and is ready to be enjoyed!
