They corrected performance issues and brought it back to a solid performer which delivers a warm reliable sound for me to enjoy. I have two SE-40s running in a dual mono configuration. Due to my age and retirement schedule, its time to scale back. I’m cutting back to one in a smaller system. Since Rainbow Electronics did repairs, I’ve had no problems for the 20+ years of ownership. Usage has been light, and as mentioned, I used as part of a dual mono setup. I’ve switched this unit back to stereo mode and it will be shipped as such. Additionally, the feedback jumper to open. I recently re-biased the tubes and will do this again taking pictures which Ill make available on request. Solo Electronics were known for their great iron and as such, this is a great foundation for those that may want to modify or tweak in their own direction. The amps have been babied in a non-smoker home and recently biased with no issue. The original inner and outer boxes and manual come with the amp. Obviously, a bias dongle/connector comes with it too. Each amp weighs at least 45lbs. Tubes are included and consist of 6 Svetlana, see picture. I’m sadly parting with my two wonderful Golden Tube Audio SE-40 amps which were converted into monoblocks about 23 years ago. I have not used them for more than two years and we are in the process of downsizing. Each SE-40 monoblock was operating with gusto during last use. These had been powering inefficient Magneplanars — and later Dahlquist DQ10s. I don’t have the means to test them now. The cosmetics are very good. Four tiny screws are missing on the chassis of each amp. I never bothered to replace them. I’m including the two original padded, shipping boxes. No tubes are included. Thus, I’m selling these SE-40s as is for $1,600 and would recommend a buyer who knows the tuning and maintenance of these awesome amps. There is an excellent users group headed by admin Jim Adams. This group can be found with a basic search. The users in the group are rich with advice and resources. The amps are sold as-is because of the nature of vintage electronics. Due to the weight and risks of shipping two 52-pound amplifiers, I prefer to sell these locally. Our Hampstead home is about a 35-minute drive from the the Baltimore metro.
