Ive had this tuner for a long time. It came to me with its marks on the casing but Ive done my best to look after it whilst its been in my posession. I dont think Ive seen another one since. I first heard this tuner about 20 years ago and was absolutely blown away by its performance. I was amazed when I found one for sale a few months later - I had to have it. The FMT 2 does have a problem where it doesnt produce any output till after its warmed up - usually about 2 or 3 mins after being switched on. I contacted Nytech who still service Ion Systems and Nytech equipment and they said they could repair it. I havent got around to sending it to them. They also advised that issue is definitely going to be with the FMT and not the X-PAK. This hasnt bothered me that much in the past because Ive just powered it up and given it a couple of minutes to warm up. Its always been the same for years and well worth the wait, however it would be nice to have the remedial work done as its a very special piece of British Hi-fi. Apparently this tuner was known as the Naim Beater - I can see why. Local collection welcome from SS1 or I can post.
