Classic Harman Kardon SR900 - lots of information about this one on the net - it was among their first solid state offerings. Date code on the transformers shows 10-1965, so this is likely a very late production model. This unit is in good physical shape, with a little oxidation on the side panels, and the name and DL # of the previous owner engraved on the top of the faceplate. Unit currently doesn’t work - it powers on but likely needs a recap. Everything inside appears original, and it is very very clean. This is being sold as for parts or repair. It powers on and comes out of protection however I only get faint audio out of headphones in main direct mode. I tried the pre out and get the same results so possibly in the preamp section but have no idea. Also I hear popping in the headphones when I use the speaker selector and function selector. This was a high current amp rated at 170 watts per Channel. Supposed to be a real nice amp, wish I could get it fixed but dont know anyone in the area who works on them.

I get a number of items from a group that does estate and business clean outs and for whatever reason they cut the cords on electronics before taking them to the recycling place. Often times I get to them after they have done this unfortunately. That being said I do not know if the item works or not. Most collectors do not realize that the Japan designs used a 4 filter system for quad, HK utilized a 8 Pole proprietary design, HK contracted Jim Fosgate to engineer the 4 channel decoding for Matrix stereo and SQ decoding to provide excellent separation on converting Stereo and SQ records. The FM section works equally as well pulling in stations with no antenna and using a special circuit to measure the noise level of the station you are listing to.The overall design is elegant, well thought out, easy to use and the Joystick speaker balance works excellent.
