Modulation distortion is decreased, so clear, interference-free reception is guaranteed even in crowded band areas.As the finishing touch to an already well-designed tuner, Kyoceras T-910 employs Fine Ceramics, material ideally suited to audio component applications due to its outstanding chemical properties. These filters are also effective in suppressing modulation distortion, ensuring linear amplification of IF signals.The IF bandwidth is selectable by a switch between WIDE and NARROW.The WIDE position makes low-distortion reception possible in situations where interference from alternate or adjacent stations is negligible.The NARROW position, on the other hand, reduces interference, thereby assuring clear reception in areas where the tuning band is crowded with a number of competing stations.Quadrature detector for FM features low distortion and very high signal-to-noise ratioThe signal from the front end is amplified by the IF stage, limited in amplitude by the limiter, and then detected by the detector where frequency modulation is converted into amplitude modulation. In this critical circuit, Kyocera employs a quadrature detector, known for its high stability regardless of varying temperatures and humidity factors.The quad rature detector in the T-910 was designed to achieve a high signal-to-noise ratio, low distortion, wide dynamic range, and flat frequency response.Stereo multiplex decoder: wide channel separation and low distortionEvery tuners stereo multiplex decoder has the important function of decoding a composite output from the detector and separating it into left and right channel information. In the T-910 Kyocera uses an elaborate chopper type that achieves both wide channel separation (60dB at 1Khz) and low distortion through the use of negative feedback.A pilot signal, contained in the composite signal, is automatically eliminated through the use of a built-in pilot canceller, while birdie noise created by interference is rejected by an anti-birdie filter. All that remains is the original broadcast signal content for the finest sound quality.Presets for 8 FM and 8 AM stations, plus programmable antenna positionsThrough the use of a large-memory microcomputer, the Kyocera T-910 does more than offer 16 presets for stations (8 each for FM and AM) ; it also permits the user to program either antenna (A or B) and the desired IF bandwidth (WIDE or NARROW) for 8 FM presets.Each time an FM station in memory is recalled, it is not only automatically tuned-the antenna is set in position for the best possible reception with the least noise and distortion, and with a minimum of interference !The T-910s built-in computer also shows the tuning status of a station on a convenient, comprehensive display.
