You are bidding on 16 brand new (New Old Stock) original McIntosh feet for most Amplifiers, Preamps, Tuners, Receivers, CD Players, etc. These feet are available in either 3/4 high, or 1 high size (or a combination of both sizes if buyer prefers). These black feet are in like new condition and include the standard size McIntosh screws. (because McIntosh used two different types of screws over the years, I will supply both types at no extra charge, for a total of 32 screws) These are the exact same original high quality polyethylene feet, by the original American manufacturer, that McIntosh has been using for the last 50 years or more. As heavy as McIntosh equipment is, these feet were made to be almost indestructible! These feet will work well with almost any brand of audio equipment, and are much better quality than original Marantz plastic feet that tend to crack if over tightened. They will not leave scuff marks on furniture, or dry out and eventually flatten, like rubber feet have a tendency to do. These American made feet were manufactured to last a lifetime! I receive many questions about which size feet are correct for a particular McIntosh or Marantz unit. The following guidelines may be helpful to determine the correct size for your item. Keep in mind that McIntosh made the decision in the late 1980’s / early 1990s to start using the taller 1” feet on almost all items. The extra clearance below the chassis can allow for up to 15% more air flow, keeping the audio component cooler. Heat has always been the number one enemy of electronics. Remember, warm air rises out thru the top of the component and pulls cool air in thru the bottom. McIntosh states in their own literature that each 10 degree rise in operating temperature reduces the life of the electronic component by up to 50%. McIntosh amplifiers with the exception of the early tube units (and “tube style” solid state units like the MC-50, MC-250 and MC 2100) use the taller 1” feet. Most early tuners, preamps, int-amps, and CD players originally used shorter 5/8” feet (no longer available), but can now certainly use the 3/4 or 1” feet if desired. Again, McIntosh now ships almost all products exclusively with the taller 1” feet. All the McIntosh wood cabinets use the taller 1” feet . Marantz 2200 series, 4200 series, and 4400 series receivers would normally use the 1” size feet. Larger separate components such as the 120, 150, 33, 3300, 240, 250, 1120, and 1200 would normally use the 3/4 size feet, but this is up to the owners preference. Sometimes I recommend stacking a few magazines or thin books under the component and measure to see which size feet would look best to the owner before making the decision. The same rules apply with other brands such as Fisher, Scott, Crown, Pioneer, Sansui, Technics, and so on. The other big concern is making sure to use the proper length screw. Ive seen expensive audio components badly damaged from using too long of a screw and accidentally hitting something underneath the chassis. Some items (especially receivers) only have a clearance of 1/8 to 1/4 before a circuit board is damaged by the screw going in too far. These feet will always come with the proper length screws.
