Selling my Marantz PMD-222 3 head portable cassette recorder. Its in excellent shape. The little white specs in the pictures are just leftover dust ,or bits from the paper towel I used to wipe off some dust. This is a professional unit used by recording engineers and musicians. It will work with METAL, Chrome and Normal BIAS tapes. It is a 2 speed recorder and player with a pitch control. It plays/records at the normal speed and can do the same at a lower speed so you can fit more on a tape. Has an XLR input for a professional type of Microphone as well as inputs for other microphones and even a phone line if you want to record off the phone. Uses 3 D size batteries. This is sold WITHOUT the batteries. There is a jack on the side for a 4.5 DC adaptor. See the video where I record off the TV and then play it back. All the controls appear to work. Play, record, fast forward, rewind and pause. This recording is made using the built in microphone and its quite sensitive. While this is working as can be seen in the video, as with other vintage electronics and due to parts swappers, it is sold AS-IS and no returns. Message me with questions. Marantz PMD222 Professional Portable Field Cassette Recorder 3 Head, tested, records, plays beautifully. No strap or power supply, tested using 3 D batteries. Really nice unit.

I have tested the unit with batteries and will play forward and rewind cassettes but have not tested the record or any other functions. It is in poor condition as shown also the eject doesnt work you have to manually pull the tape out. Screws missing out of the bottom panel as shown.

Marantz PMD 222 Portable Cassette Recorder 3 Head 1/2, variable Speed - Repair. This unit was working, but just stopped. I picked this up at a local estate- I played some tapes with both battery and a power supply that I had and it worked fine. I hooked up a mic, and the meters respond well. I made a recording, but when I tried to play it back, the unit stopped turning. I can hear the motors running, but I do not know why it doesn’t work. That is as far as I got in testing. There is corrosion on one corner, and some stains/ discoloration as pictured. The battery compartment looks good. This item is being sold as-is, for parts or repair. The case is included, but no power cable or accessories. Please see pictures for details.
