Michell Syncro Turntable (no arm) A good example of this classic turntable with still oh so modern looks, another Michell design classic. Performance wise I think general opinion would put it between a Rega 3 and an LP12, somewhere around the Linn Axis mark or around £1000 in todays market.It seemed to have a wider soundstage with more detail and depth than a Rega 3 but a reasonable spec LP12 or Xerxes or Gyrodeck sounded that little bit better still.That said, If you are newish to the audio world and havent heard a turntable of this quality before - youll get that WOW factor. Its a huge first step in quality from the cheap plastic decks. Then the audiophile law of deminishing returns will apply and youll have to pay a lot more to get that WOW factor again. Traditionally, the arm to put with these were the Regas RB250 or 300 although personally I always thought the Rega arms sounded best on solid chassis decks and youd be better off with something like a Linn Akito, Ittok or Roxsan arms on the Michell decks. A good choice now adays would be the Michell Techno arm. Personal taste and worth experimenting and the turntable will do justice to a wide choice of MM and good MC cartridges. Generally the perspex is in good condition bar a small nick on the edge where the Syncro text is. Also, some of the Syncro lettering has come off over time.However these do not affect the sound at all. The all important bearing is silky smooth and spins very freely thanks to a recent oil change.The lucky purchaser will be furnished with a new set of springs and a new belt (worth £65+). Its worth changing the springs and the belt every 3-5 years as they do deteriorate over time. The motor fires up instantly and the whole package sounds very good indeed. The original lid has been upgraded to a Michell Unicover which is altogether much more easy to use and suits the deck very nicely.And finally a high quality perspex/felt mat is supplied. Delivery is possible throughout Wiltshire, the SE, Wales and borders as I am often darting around those parts of the country,For other areas I suggest you contact me beforehand to see what arrangements might be possible. For locals, you are most welcome to pop round to view although if you want to listen youll have to bring an arm and cartridge as I dont have any spares at the moment. Michell Syncro turntable fitted with Mayware Formula 4 tonearm From the 1990s and in full working orderIn excellent cosmetic condition and comes with all the accessories shown and an AT-91 spare stereo cartridge.The tonearm mount is a little loose but this does not affect play. It can likely be tightened by someone who knows what they are doing.You may also wish to replace the tonearm with your own model.Collection only from East Sheen, London SW14. Due to delicate nature of the item, I cannot risk postage .
