Vintage Pioneer PL51A Turntable. This is one for the Hi-Fi Audiophile. I am the only owner from new, and can assure any buyer that this wonderful piece of equipment has never been mistreated. The turntable has not been used in the last two years as I no longer have a vynyl collection, but has been safely packed away from the grand children. Comes with Shure V15 111 cartridge with VN35HE Stylus. The acrylic lid is new and there are no scratch marks on the unit or acrylic lidExtras included are Original Manual, Cables, counter balance tone arm raiser and cartridge pressure weight check kit.I will also include the Shure Audio obstacle course album I purchased with the original Shure cartridge.I have run the motor to check it and it is absolutely fine. I have not set it up to check the cartridge/stylus, so I cannot guarantee its operation, although it was fine prior to packing away. Having seen several of these units advertised over the past couple of years, I am thinking I should be asking more than my advertised price, but one has to be realistic. Vintage PIONEER PL51A Turntable RARE PL51-A 1200A. The beautiful machine you are looking at is the highly sought after but quite rare PIONEER PL51A from I believe the mid 1970’s It’s also known as the 1200A overseas Direct drive so no belts to worry about. Checked the speed and it’s still spot on (33.3rpm and 45rpm) This particular one is in fine condition considering it’s nearly 50 years old, It plays faultlessly and as is usual of these vintage turntables, it sounds fantastic, completely blows most newer turntables out of the water (you’d have to spend a fair amount more to buy something that sounds better) These react very well to upgraded stylus/cartridges, at the moment it’s got an M75ED on it, with a brand new aftermarket stylus (just to get it up and running again) it really does sound fantastic There are a couple of marks here and there but you have to look hard to find them. The lid is pretty tidy and I’ve just put new hinges on it and polished it and as you can see from the pictures it looks great now, it’s not absolutely immaculate but both the turntable and the lid are very tidy indeed, the few people who have seen this turntable have always commented on how good it looks and when I tell them it’s from the 70’s they don’t believe it. These are one of the few turntables that had phono/rca plugs on the back rather than ‘captive/fixed’ leads so you can use your own phonos and again, this can be a worthwhile upgrade path. A short length of stranded wire can be utilised for an earth if needed It’s also got the lid that you can detach quickly, you just lift it up and slide it slightly to the side and it comes off completely (this is how many people recommend listening to it as the lids can cause unwanted resonance etc, but I think that would only be at much higher volumes under critical listening) What do you get in the sale? Well basically, the turntable (I can supply phono leads if you want, they won’t be the best in the world but they also won’t be cheap patch chords either) I don’t have the box or instructions or any other accessories, just the turntable. It’s got it’s own power cable fixed so if you have an amplifier with a phono stage you can literally connect this via the some rca leads and start spinning straight away Out of 10 (10 being brand new condition) this is an easy 7.5 and possibly even an 8 I won’t post this, as it says in my other listing, far too many good record players are getting trashed beyond repair by couriers these days, and I’m just not prepared to post it, so collection only from Shropshire (not far from Ludlow) or I can possibly drop it off locally (within 40 miles for a small fee for fuel cost, but get in touch first as I work a lot and struggle on finding time) Any questions please feel free to ask Please note, I’m not desperate to sell so although I’ve set the listing to offers please don’t try to offer 1/2 the price, it does make me laugh, this place just seems to attract the kind of person who thinks that offering half is acceptable, so please have a little bit of respect.
