Up for sale is an REL HT/1003 powered subwoofer. This item is being sold for parts as the internal amplifier is in non-working condition. The cabinet and driver are in excellent condition. I purchased this subwoofer, here on ebay, in non-working condition, with the specific intent to convert it to a passive speaker. The previous owner stated that the internal amplifier did not power on. I did not confirm that or do any testing on the amplifier, so I can provide no further information as to the condition of the amplifier. It may be repairable or it may not. As intended, I did convert the subwoofer to be a passive speaker, meaning that a stand alone amplifier will be needed to power it, if you choose to use it in that manner. No external amplifier is included with this sale. It plays very well when used in this configuration. Make sure you understand what is required to run a passive subwoofer with your system, before purchasing, if that is how you intend to use it. To convert the sub to passive, I simply disconnected the wiring between the internal amplifier and the driver and then connected my own speaker wiring to the terminals of the driver using spade connectors. I then drilled a small hole in the back of the cabinet to run the speaker wiring through. To reverse this conversion, all one would need to do is remove my wiring and reattach the included internal wiring between the amplifier and the driver. The original wiring pigtail has spade connectors on both ends (see photos) that simply slide onto the terminals of the amplifier and the driver. The connected speaker wiring is approximately six feet long. If you need longer wiring, it is easy to make an extension by purchasing a speaker connector wall plate and a plastic electrical junction box to make a convenient connector. These items are shown in the photos for informational purposes only and are not included in the sale. Included in this sale are the speaker cabinet, driver and non-working internal amplifier, original power cord and pigtail wiring connectors, six foot long connected speaker wiring, with banana plugs, and original double boxed packaging.
