This machine is designed to record and playback digital Audio Tapes - when you can open the flap to insert the tape. Unfortunately on this one, it doesn’t open. I have no idea why. Last time it was used was 15 years ago and at the time it was working perfectly. It was kept in a dry, dark closet. Maybe something dried out…. I called a repairman and was told his fee to determine what is wrong would be $150. I suspect it isn’t anything major but $150 diagnostic fee isn’t worth it. So, if someone living in the L.A. area knows how to fix this sort of problem, (which they show you in detail on youTube) I will let it go for 40 bucks. It’s a real shame, when I plug it in, the light goes on, all the knobs work perfectly…. But the door won’t open and I don’t want to force it open. NO SHIPPING, Not worth it.
