For your consideration, today we are offering ONE SME 3009 SERIES III TONEARM, W/DAMPING TROUGH AND EXTRA WAND. This tonearm which has been used, comes complete with original Styrofoam shipping shell, is legendary. Said to be one of the finest tonearms ever made, this example is in as found condition, it is complete with the damping trough, damping paddle, bias weight, bias weight pulley and arm, damping fluid vial and an extra wand . The only item MISSING, is the spindle for the bias weight pulley (the pulley is present, as is the bias weight, but the spindle pin, that supports the pulley is absent (easily replaced!)) No audio cables are supplied, but this arm uses the standard RCA cables. The extra wand , is black (I belive and has the finger lift broken, the finger lift is present, and could likely be glued back in place. The gold wand is intact, with finger lift. In general, this is a very nice arm, mostly complete, and needs only very minor work to put in service. Arm will ship in original styrofoam shell, (no outer box). SME Series 3 III Ultra Low Mass Arm Wand With Ortofon 30 H Cartridge , unknown hours of use but tested and sounds good.

For the tonearm only, no turntable base is included that is just there because it was easier to take some pictures before I took it off the base. Very nice condition with accessories. Only minor thing to note is the arm lift rubber is aged, a common problem with any tonearm this old or well any rubber. I have used rubber treatment on it and usually a bit of a rub with alcohol on a cotton but sorts it but I did notice after a while when cueing the arm might slip due to lack of friction, a solution would be to craft knife out the rubber and replace it with some new rubber tube or you I have seen some people on forums put a bit of grippy tape under the tonearm part that touches the lift. Any you buy likely has this problem but maybe hasnt been noticed due to them not even being in use, as I have just been using this I want to mention. The armwand was rewired by turntable_groove here on ebay, very good service and the quality of wire is better than the original.. the leads are also longer (perhaps a bit long in a way, when I had Shure V15 on here I had to do some creative packing in of the wires so they didnt hang too low and touch your vinyl) giving plenty of room to replace tags at a later date if you had to, you could probably trim off a length of the leads about 5 times and still be fine. Note that the green lead has black shrink wrap on it instead. Included: -SME Series III tonearm (complete with bias weight etc)-Damper tank-All 3 paddles original paddles-4 weight spacers-1 large lead weight-3 small lead weight-Azimuth adjustment tool-Lateral Balance cone tool-Cartridge seating compound (not sure this is any good with age but its there anyway and I believe later on SME stopped even providing this because it is not really necessary)-Phono cables, not original but of similar capacitance and length. Uses Mogami 2893 with Rean NYS352BG connector.-Grounding cable with 3 points so you can do tonearm to turntable to phono amp-4 screws for attaching base to turntable There is also a headshell weight, I am not sure it is even for this tonearm or a different SME model. Also includes extra azimuth adjustment tool, spanner and paddles (I bought these 3d printed versions when I couldnt find the originals but later found them) Will be sent partially taken apart to help prevent damage. The damper tank has fluid in it that still does its job so I will try and seal it in some way so it doesnt go all over in shipping, that said you might have a sticky tank you have to clean.
