This is a Sansui SR-838 Quartz Servo Direct Drive Turntable Model SN-43 serial # 317091176. The overall condition is good . There are some scratches on cover, and there is NO NEEDLE. There are 2 extra pieces that were in the box with the turntable. Please review photos carefully.

Tested and works. I did notice that it sounds slightly muffled. When I found it the needle was smashed. I assume it needs a new needle or possible a new cart. Otherwise it worked just and it should. Very clean. It has some scuffs and scratches from storage. The dust cover has a crack but does not effect its movement. This is in original condition from the original owner. SANSUI SR 838 DIRECT DRIVE QUARTZ LOCK TURNTABLE Listed is a vintage and scarce Sansui SR 838 Direct Drive Quartz Lock Manual Turntable. I have owned this beautiful classic turntable for many years. It has always been well cared for and never abused. This was not my main turntable and was setup in a spare room and seldom used. It is in near pristine condition and the piano black finnish is outstanding. No serious scratches and damage that is often the case. The lid is very clean as well no cracks or damage. Some very light scratches may be evident but hardly worth mentioning. This is all original and has never altered. It still retains it’s original spring feet. The rubber on the feet is somewhat deteriorated as is very common on this model of turntable. Very well built and quite heavy. The only issue is that the quartz light is burnt out which occurred about a year ago now. This does not affect how it functions. It maintains very accurate speed and locks perfectly. The sound that this puts out is fantastic. Warm sounding with plenty of base. I have used this with various moving magnet and moving coil cartridges with great results. Mounted on the beautiful S-Shaped tonearm is the original Sansui cast Headshell with a Sansui SV-43 Cartridge and stylus. This was manufactured in Japan in the late 1970’s in the golden era of hi-fidelity. This can easily be considered an audiophile turntable and I understand that this model was designed and built by Micro Seiki. A true gem in the world of audio gear. This was made for the North American market and is a 120 volt model but can also be switched to 220 volt. Comes with the original owners manual. This classic turntable would work perfectly with any vintage or modern sound system. Ideal for use with Sansui, Pioneer, Yamaha, Technics, Sony, Kenwood, JVC Victor, Akai and many other brands.
